3. Position the lower shoulder strap clamp
under the shaft and align the upper and
lower clamp screw holes.

4. Insert two screws into the screw holes.
5. Secure shoulder strap clamp by tighten-
ing screws with a hex wrench.

ATTACHING THE SHIELD
WARNING: Theshield must beprop-
erly installed. The shield provides partial
protection tothe operatorandothers fromthe
risk of t hrown objects, andis equippedwith a
linelimiter bladewhichcuts e xcessline tothe
proper length. The line limiter blade (on un-
derside of shield) is sharp and can cut you.
1. Insert bracket into slot on shield.
2. Pivot shield to align holes in shield and
bracket.

3. Secure shield to bracket with bolt.

CONFIGURING YOU R UNIT
You canconfigureyour unitusing acuttinghead
for grass and light weeds, or a weed blade for
cutting grass, weeds, and brush up to 1 cm in
diameter. To a ssemble your unit, go to the sec-
tion for the desired configuration and follow the
in st ru ct i o n s.

NOTE:Remove theblade bef ore attachingthe
trimmer head.Toremove blade,align ho leinthe
dust cup with thehole inthe side o f thegearbox
by rotating theblade. Insert a small screwdriver
into aligned holes. T his will keep the shaft from
turning while loosening the blade nut. Remove
blade nut by turning clockwise. Remove the
screwdriver. Remove both washers and blade.
