Replacing the air filter
If the engine seems to lack power or does not run
smoothly this may be because the air filter is
clogged.
It is therefore important to replace the air filter at
regular intervals (see maintenance schedule on
page 17-18 for correct service interval).
Clean/ replace the air filter as follows:
1. Raise the engine hood.

3. Pull off the foam plastic pre-filter from the paper
filter and wash clean in mild detergent.
Squeeze it dry in a clean cloth.
2. Unscrew the two plastic knobs from the top of
the air filter cover and remove the air filter
cover.
WARNING!
Let the exhaust system cool down
before servicing it, otherwise you
could burn yourself.
5. Refit the air filter as follows:
Check that the seal on the underside of the
paper filter is intact. Fit the paper filter in the air
filter housing and tighten the wing nuts.
6. Fit the pre-filter over the paper filter.
7. Refit the cover on the air filter housing. Do not
over-tighten the plastic knobs.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Do not use compressed air to clean the
paper filter.
Do not wash the paper filter.
Do not oil the paper filter.
4. Unscrew the wing nut from the air filter and lift
out the paper filter. Tap the filter against a hard
surface to shake off the dust. If the paper filter
is still dirty it should be replaced.
