FRONT-TO-BACK ADJUSTMENT (See Fig. 15).
IMPORTANT: DECK MUST BE LEVEL SIDE-
TO-SIDE. IF THE FOLLOWING FRONT-TO-
BACK ADJUSTMENT IS NECESSARY, BE
SURE TO ADJUST BOTH FRONT OR BOTH
REAR LINKAGES EQUALLY SO THE DECK
WILL STAY LEVEL.
To obtain the best cutting performance, the deck
should be adjusted so the front tip of the blades
are approximately 1/8" to 1/4" lower than the rear
tip. If the front tip is higher, this will create a poor
quality of cut.
SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENT
WARNING
Check adjustment on the right side of the
mower. Position any blade so that the tip is
pointing straight forward. Measure distance “B”
at the front and rear tip of the blade.
• Before making any necessary
adjustments, check to make sure that
the deck is level side-to-side.
• With the deck in the highest cutting
position, (4 1/2") measure the front tip of
the blade to see if the deck is higher or
lower than 4 1/2".
• To lower the front tip of the blade, using a
9/16" wrench, loosen the hex nuts that
are on the front lift linkages (be sure to
loosen equal amounts).
• When distance “B” is 1/8" to 1/4" lower at
the front than rear the adjustment is
done.
• Reverse above step to raise the deck.
Blades are sharp. Protect your hands with
gloves and/or wrap blades with a heavy
cloth when handling.
