ADJUSTMENTS
Shutthe engineoff,removethe ignitionkeyandengagethe parking
brakebeforemakingadjustments.Protectyourhandsby usingheavy
gloveswhenhandlingthe blades.
NOTE:Checkthe tractor'stire pressurebeforeperformingany deck
levelingadjustments.Referto Tireson page28 for informationregard-
ingtirepressure.
Leveling the Deck (Front To Rear)
The frontof thecuttingdeckis supportedby a stabilizerbarthatcan
beadjustedto levelthe deckfromfrontto rear.The frontof thedeck
shouldbe between1/4-inchand3/8-inchlowerthan therearof the
deck.Adjustif necessaryas follows:
1. Parkthe tractorparkedon afirm, levelsurfaceand placethe deck
liftleverinthetop notch.
2. Rotatethebladenearestthe dischargecoverchutesothat it is
parallelwiththe tractor.
3. Measurethedistancefromthe frontof thebladetip to theground
andthe rearof the bladetip totheground.Thefirst measurement
takenshouldbebetween1/4-inchand3/8-inchlessthanthe
secondmeasurement.
Determinetheapproximatedistancenecessaryfor properadjustment
and proceed,ifnecessary.
1. Loosen(threadoutward)the hexlocknut onthe endof thedeck
hangerrod.SeeFigure23.

2. To raise thefrontof thedeck,tighten(threadinward)theinner
hexnutagainstthe fronthangerbracket.
3. To Iowerthe frontof the deck,loosen(threadoutward)thehex
nut,awayfromthe fronthangerbracket.See Figure23.
4. Retightenthe locknutagainstthe hexnutwhenproperadjust-
mentis achieved.
