5. To generate a customized version of the document by hiding one or more condition
tags, click Show/Hide in the Conditional Text dialog and use the Show/Hide
Conditional Text dialog. You can suppress this special formatting when publishing the
document to print or PDF. To print conditional text with the condition indicators off,
click Show/Hide, then turn off Show Condition Indicators.
If another document contains conditional text settings that you want to use, you can
import the settings by choosing File>Import>Formats.
Using Filter by Attribute
FrameMaker 8 software also provides a new mechanism for filtering content in structured
documents — Filter by Attribute. This feature provides a new way to manage document
variations within structured documents. Filter by Attribute is provided in addition to all
capabilities of conditional text within structured documents. Filter by attribute can pro-
vide two advantages over conventional conditional text: filtering characteristics are based
on structured or XML metadata that is already embedded in the document, and there is no
risk of mistakenly filtering content outside element boundaries.
With a structured document active, choose Special>Filter By Attribute. The Manage Attri-
bute Expressions dialog opens.
