FULL CHOKE position.
HOW TO START YOUR UNIT
WARNING: The trimmer head will
turn whilestartingtheengine. Avoid anyco n -
tact with the muffler. A hot muf fler can cause
serious burns.

STARTING A COLD ENGINE (or a
warm engine after running out of
fuel)
Starting Position
1. Set unit on a fla t surface .
2. Slowly press the pr imer bulb 6 times.
3. Move choke lever to the FUL L CHOKE
positi on.
4. Squeeze the throttle trigger fully and hold
through all remaining steps.

5. Pull st arter rope handle shar ply unt il engine
sounds as if it is trying t o st art, but do not
pull rope more than 6 ti mes.
6. As soonas engine sounds as if itis tryi ngto
start , move choke lever to HA LF CHOKE
position.
7. Pull starter rope sharply until engine ru ns,
but no m ore than 6 pulls.
NOTE: I fthe enginedoesn’tstart after 6
pulls (at the HALF CHOKE position),
move the choke lever to the FULL
CHOKE position and press the primer
bulb 6 times. Squeeze and hold the
throttle trigger and pull the sta rter rope 2
more times. Move the choke lever to the
HALF CHOK E position andpullthestart -
er ropeuntilthe engineruns, butnomore
than 6 pulls. I f the engine still doesn’t
start, it is probably flooded. Proceed to
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE.
8. Oncetheenginestarts,allow itto run 10se-
con d s, then move the choke le ver to the
RUN positio n. Allow the unit to run for 30
more se conds at RUN before re leasingthe
throttl e trigger .
NOTE: If engine dies with the choke le-
ver intheRUN position, movethe choke
lever to the HALF CHOKE position and
pull the rope until engine runs, but no
more than 6 pulls.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
1. Movethechokeleve rto th e HALFCHOKE
position.
2. Squeeze and hold th e throttle trigger . Keep
throttl e tr igger fully sque ezed until the en-
gine runs sm oothly.
3. Pull starter rope sharply until engine ru ns,
but no m ore than 6 pulls.
4. Allow engine to run 15 seconds, t hen move
the choke lever to RUN.
NOTE: If engine has not star ted, pull starter
rope 5more pulls.Ifenginestilldoesnot run,it
is probably flooded.
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE
Flooded engines ca n be start ed by placing the
choke lever in the RUN position; then, pull the
rope to cl ear the engine o f exce ss fuel. This
could require pulling the start er hand le many
times depend ing on how badly the unit is
flooded. If the unit st ill doesn’t start, refer to
TROUBLESHOO TING TABLE o r call
