STOP SWITCH
The STOP switch is use d to stop the engine. To
stop th e engine, push and ho ld the switch inthe
STOP po sition u nti l t he e ngin e stops.
PRIMER BULB
ThePR IMERBULBremoves airfromthecar-
buretor and fuel lines and fills them with fuel.
This allows you to start the engine with fewer
pulls on the starter rope. Activate the primer
bulb by pressingit and allowing it to return to
its original form.
CHOKE
The CHOKE helps to supply fuel to t he e ngine
toaidincoldstarting.Activatethechokeby
moving the choke lever to the FULL CHOKE
positi on.Af ter theengine a ttempts to start, m ove
the choke lever to the HALF CHOKE position.
Once engine has started, move the choke lever
to the RUN posit ion.
BEFORE STARTING ENGINE
WARNING: Be sure toread the fuel
information in the safety rules before you
begin. If you do not understand the safety
rules, do not attempt to f uel your unit. Call
1-800-554-6723.
FUELING ENGINE
WARNING: Remove f uel cap slowly
when refueling.
HELPFUL TIP
To obtainthe correct oilmix
ratio, pour 3.2 ounces of
2--cycle synthetic oil into
one gallon of fresh gas.
This engine is ce rtified to operate on unleaded
gasoli ne. Before ope ration, g asoline must b e
mixed with a good quality synthetic 2-cycle
air-cooled eng ine oil designed to b e mixed at a
ratio of 40: 1. Poulan/WE ED EATER brand
synthetic oil is recommended. Mix gasoline and
oilat aratio of40:1. A 40:1ratio is obtainedby
mixing 3.2 fluid ounces (95 ml) of oil wit h 1
gallon (4li ter s) ofunleaded gasoline. DO NO T
USE automotive oil or mari ne oil. These oils will
causeeng ine damage.Whe n mixing fuel, f ollow
instr uct ions printe d on container . Once oil is
added t o gasoline, shake container momentarily
to assure th at the f uel is thoroughly mixed.
Always re ad and follow the safety rules relating
to fue l be fore fueling you r un it.
CAUTION: Never use straight gasoline in
your unit. T his will cause permanent engine
damage and void the limited warranty.
FUEL REQUIREMENTS
This engine requires the use of minimum 87
octane [R+M]/2 clean gasoline.
IMPORTANT
Use of alcohol blended fuels (called gaso hol or
usingethanol or methanol) can causemajor en-
gine performance and durab ility problems.
WARNING: Alte rnativefuels (not gas-
oline) such as E--15 (15 % alcohol), E--20 (2 0%
alcohol ), E--85(85 %alcohol)are NOTclassified
as gasoline and are NOT approved for use in
2--stroke gaso line engines. Use of alternative
fuels will cause problems such as: improper
clutch engagements, overheating, vapor lock,
power loss, lubrication deficiency , deteriora tion
of fuel lines, gaske ts and internal carburet or
component s, etc. Alternative fuels ca use high
