WARNING: Make surethe riding
mower's engine is off, removethe
ignition key, and set the parking
brake before removing the ship-
ping brace.
• Locatetheshippingbrace,ifpresent,andaccompany-
ingwarningtagfoundon the rightsideofthe mower,
betweenthedischargechuteand thecuttingdeck.
See Figure2.
• Whileholdingthedischargechutewithyourleft hand,
removetheshippingbracewithyour righthandby
graspingitbetweenyourthumbandindexfingerand
rotatingitclockwise.

WARNING: The mowing deck is
capable of throwing objects. Fail-
ure to operate the ridingmower
without the discharge cover in the
proper operating position could

Attaching The Steering Wheel
Ifthesteeringwheelforyour tractordid notcome
attached,thehardwarefor attachingit hasbeenpacked
withinthesteeringwheel,beneaththe steeringwheel
cap.Carefullypry offthesteeringwheelcapand remove
thehardware.
NOTE:Therearetwodifferentstylesof steeringwheel
cap.SeeFigure3.Styles vary by model.
1. With the wheels of the tractor pointingstraight
forward, placethesteeringwheeloverthe steering
shaft.
2. Placethewasher(withthecuppedsidedown)over
thesteeringshaftandsecurewiththe hexbolt.See
Figure3.
3. Placethesteeringwheelcapoverthe centerofthe
steeringwheelandpushdownwarduntilit"clicks"into
place.
