• Forbest resultsit isrecommendedthatthefirsttwo
lapsbecutwiththe dischargethrowntowardsthe
center.Afterthefirsttwolaps,reversethedirectionto
throwthedischargeto theoutsideforthebalanceof
cutting.Thiswillgivea betterappearancetothe lawn.
• Donotcut the grasstooshort.Shortgrassinvites
weedgrowthandyellowsquicklyin dryweather.
• Mowingshouldalwaysbe donewiththe engineat full
throttle.
Underheavierconditionsit maybenecessaryto go
backoverthecut areaa secondtimetoget a clean
cut.
• DoNOTattempttomowheavybrushandweedsand
extremelytallgrass.Yourtractoris designedto mow
lawns,NOTclearbrush.
• Keepthebladessharpand replacethebladeswhen

bladesharpeninginstructions.
Mulching (If Equipped)
Selectmodelscomeequippedwitha mulchkitwhich
incorporatesspecialblades,alreadystandardonthe
tractor,ina processof recirculatinggrassclippings
repeatedlybeneaththe cuttingdeck.Theultra-fine
clippingsarethenforcedbackintothe lawnwherethey
actasa naturalfertilizer.

Observethefollowingpointsfor thebestresultswhen
mulching:
• Neverattemptto mulchifthelawnis damp.Wetgrass
tendstostickto theundersideof thecuttingdeck
preventingpropermulchingof theclippings.
DoNOTattemptto mulchmorethan1/3 thetotal
heightof thegrassorapproximately1-1/2inches.
Doingsowillcausethe clippingstoclumpupbeneath
thedeckandnotbe mulchedeffectively.
• Maintaina slowgroundspeedto allowthegrass
clippingsmoretimetoeffectivelybemulched.
• Alwayspositionthethrottlecontrolleverin theFAST
(rabbit)positionandallowit to remainthere while
mowing.Failingto keeptheengineatfull throttle
placesstrainon thetractor'sengineanddoesnot
allowthebladesto properlymulchgrass.
NOTE:It is notnecessaryto removethedischargechute
tooperatethemowerwiththe mulchkitinstalled.
Tooperatethecuttingdeckwithoutmulching,simply
removethemulchplugby unthreadingthe plasticwing
nutwhichfastensitto thecuttingdeck.Thiswillallowthe
clippingstodischargeoutthe side.SeeFigure13.
