WARNING
Neverexceed the
maximuminflation
pressure shownon the
sidewall of the tire.
Batteries give off an
explosive gaswhile
charging. Charge bat-
tery ina well ventilated
area and keep away
from an open flame
or pilot light as on a
water heater, space
heater, furnace, clothes
dryer or other gas
appliances.
5. Lookingat thecuttingdeckfromtheleft sideof the
tractor,locatethedecksupportpinonthe rearleft
sideofthe deck.SeeFigure23.
6. Pullthe decksupportpinoutwardtoreleasethe deck
fromthedecklift arm.
7. Rotatethe pin slightlytowardthe rearofthetractor
andreleasethe pin intotheholeprovided.
8. Repeattheabovestepsonthe tractor'srightside.
9. Movethedecklift leverintothe topnotchonthe right
fenderto raisedeckliftarmsupandout oftheway.
10.Gentlyslidethecuttingdecktowardthe frontof the
tractorallowingthehooksonthe deckto release
themselvesfromthedeck stabilizerrod.
11.Gentlyslidethecuttingdeck(fromthe rightside)out
fromunderneaththetractor.
Tires
,_ WARNING: Never exceed the
maximuminflation pressure

Therecommendedoperatingtire pressureis:
Approximately10psifor thereartires
Approximately14psifor thefronttires
IMPORTANT:Refertothe tiresidewallforexacttire
manufacturer'srecommendedormaximumpsi.Do not
overinflate.Uneventirepressurecouldcausethecutting
decktomowunevenly.
Battery
Thebatteryis sealedandismaintenance-free.Acid
levelscannotbechecked.
Alwayskeepthe batterycablesandterminalsclean
andfreeofcorrosivebuild-up.
Aftercleaningthebatteryandterminals,apply a light
coatofpetroleumjellyor greaseto bothterminals.
Alwayskeepthe rubberboot positionedoverthe
positiveterminalto preventshorting.
IMPORTANT:Ifremovingthe batteryfor anyreason,
disconnecttheNEGATIVE(Black)wirefromit'sterminal
first,followedbythe POSITIVE(Red)wire.When
re-installingthebattery,alwaysconnectthe POSiTiVE
(Red)wireitsterminalfirst,followedby theNEGATIVE
(Black)wire.Becertainthatthewiresareconnectedto
thecorrectterminals;reversingthemcouldchangethe
polarityandresultindamageto yourengine'salternat-
ingsystem.
Charging
If the tractorhasnot beenputintousefor anextended
periodoftime,chargethe batterywithanautomotive-type
12-voltchargerfora minimumofone hour at six amps.
WARNING: Batteries give off an

ances.
Jump Starting
WARNING:When removing or
installingthe battery, follow
these instructionsto prevent the
screwdriver from shorting against
the frame.
IMPORTANT:Neverjumpyourtractor'sdeadbatterywith
thebatteryof a runningvehicle.
1. Connectendof onejumpercabletothepositive
terminalofthe goodbattery,thentheotherendtothe
positiveterminalof thedeadbattery.
2. Connectthe otherjumpercableto thenegative
terminalofthe goodbattery,thentotheframe of the
unit with the dead battery.
_ WARNING" Failure to use this
procedure could cause sparking,
and the gas in either battery could
explode.
Cleaning
Cleanthebatterybyremovingit fromthetractorand
washingwitha bakingsodaandwatersolution.If neces-
sary,scrapethebatteryterminalswitha wire brushto
removedeposits.Coatterminalsandexposedwiringwith
greaseor petroleumjelly to preventcorrosion.
Battery Failures
Somecommoncausesfor batteryfailureare:
incorrectinitialactivation undercharging
overcharging corrodedconnections
freezing
These failures are NOTcovered by your tractor's
warranty.
