ENGINE OIL AND FILTER CHANGE
The engine oil and oil lter should be changed at the following intervals:
• Kawasaki gasoline engine: after the rst 10 hours of operation.
• Kubota diesel engine: after the rst 50 hours of operation.
After that, the oil should be changed every 100 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes rst.
Engine Oil Draining
1. Turn the key switch to the OFF position and remove the key. Place the Forward/Reverse handle in the NEUTRAL
position. Chock the front wheels.
2. Disconnect battery and spark plug (Gas only) wires. See Disconnecting the Battery – Gasoline/Diesel Vehicle
on page 13.
3. Remove the oil ller cap to allow the oil to drain properly.
4. Position a pan designed for oil changes under the drain plug (Figure 21 or Figure 22).
5. From the underside of the vehicle, use a socket or wrench to remove the drain plug (1). Turn the plug
counterclockwise and drain the engine oil into the pan. See following WARNING.
WARNING
• Do not attempt to change engine oil when the engine is hot or even warm. Hot engine oil can cause
skin burns.
• Wear safety glasses or approved eye protection when servicing the vehicle. Wear rubber gloves when
handling oil drain plug, oil lter, and oil drain pan.
6. Clean the oil drain plug threads with solvent to remove oil and oil residue. Make sure that the compression
washer or sealing o-ring remains on the drain plug. Inspect the compression washer or the sealing o-ring
and replace if necessary.
