General Recommendations

Alwaysobservesafetyruleswhenperformingany maintenance.
Thewarrantyon thislawnmowerdoesnot coveritemsthathave
beensubjectedto operatorabuseor negligence.To receivefull
valuefromwarranty,operatormustmaintainthe lawnmoweras
instructedhere.
• Alladjustmentsshouldbecheckedat leastonceeach season.
• Periodicallycheckall fastenersand makesurethesearetight.
Alwaysstopthe motoranddisconnectfromthe powersourcebefore
cleaning,lubricatingor performinganyrepairsor maintenanceonthe
lawnmower.
Lubrication
Lubricatethe wheelsatleastoncea seasonwithlightoil (ormotor
oil). If wheelsareremovedfor anyreason,lubricatesurfaceof the
pivotarm andinnersurfaceofthe wheelwithlightoil.See
Figure12.

Deck Care
Toreducethe riskof electricshock,do not exposethemowerto
water.
The undersideof mowerdeckshouldbecleanedaftereach useas
grassclippings,leaves,dirt andotherdebriswill accumulate.This
accumulationof grassclippings,etc.,isundesirableas it willpromote
rustandcorrosion.
1. Removeany buildupof grassandleavesonor aroundthemotor
cover(donot usewater).Wipethemowercleanwitha drycloth
occasionally.
2. Ifdebrishas builtup ontheundersideof theunit,tilt themower
forwardor onits sideandscrapeit cleanwitha suitabletool.
IMPORTANT:Do notusea pressurewasheror gardenhose
to cleanyour unit.Thesemaycausedamageto electric
components,orthe electricmotor.Theuseofwaterwill resultin
shortenedlifeand reduceserviceability.
Resetting Overload Protection Switch
Thismoweris equippedwithanoverloadprotectionswitchto prevent
overheatingdamageto the motor.
Ifthe overloadprotectionswitchpopsout:
1. Releasethemotor/bladecontrolhandleanddo NOTrestartthe
mowerfor atleastoneminute,allowingthe electricmotortimeto
cool.
2. Presstheoverloadprotectionswitchinwardto reset.See
Figure13.

Ifthe overloadprotectionswitchpopsout shortlyafter resetting:
1. Releasethemotor/bladecontrolhandleanddo NOTrestartthe
mowerfor atleast15minutesto allowthe electricmotorextra
timeto cool.
2. Presstheoverloadprotectionswitchinwardto reset.
3. Restartunit.
NOTE: Iftheoverloadprotectionswitchpopsout repeatedly
duringoperationor willnot remainin whenattemptingto reset,
contactSearsor anotherqualifiedservicedealerforrepair.
