STOPPING THE MOTOR
The bladecontinuesto rotatefora fewsecondsafterthe motoris
shutoff. If motordoesnot cometo a stopwhenthe motor/blade
controlhandleis released,contacta Searsorotherauthorized
servicedealer.
Releasethe blade/motorcontrolhandleto stopthe motorandblade.
USING YOUR LAWN MOWER
Besurethatlawnis clearof stones,sticks,wires,orotherobjects
whichcoulddamagethelawnmoweror motor.Suchobjectscouldbe
accidentallythrownby themowerinany directionandcauseserious
personalinjuryto theoperatorandothers.
Ifyou strikea foreignobject,stopthemotor,and unplugfromthe
powersupplycircuit.Thoroughlyinspectthe mowerfor anydamage,
and repairthedamagebeforerestartingandoperatingthe mower.
Excessivevibrationof themowerduringoperationis an indicationof
damage.The unitshouldbepromptlyinspectedandrepaired.
To preventelectricshock,do notoperatethe mowerin dampor
wetconditions.
• Alwaysstartfromthe pointclosesttothe powersourcewherethe
cord isconnected.Nevermowaroundthe lawnincircles;travel
backandforthacrossthelawn,startingfromthe pointclosestto
the outletandthenmovingawayfromtheoutletsothe cordlies in
the cut portionofthe lawn,outof theway.
• Donotallowthe extensioncordto wraparoundtrees,shrubs
or otherobstacles.Whenpickingupthe extensioncord,wind
the cordina seriesofequalloopson eachsideofyour handto
preventsnarling.
USING AS MULCHER
Formulchinggrass,removethegrasscatcheror sidedischargechute
fromthe mower.Foreffectivemulching,donot cutwetgrass. Ifthe
grasshas beenallowedtogrow inexcessoffour inches,mulchingis
notrecommended.Usethe grasscatcherto bagclippingsinstead.
USING GRASS CATCHER
Youcanusethe grasscatcherto collectclippingswhileyou are
operatingthe mower.
1. AttachgrasscatcherfollowinginstructionsintheAssembly
section.Grassclippingswill automaticallycollect inbagasyou
runmower.Operatemowertill grassbagis full.
2. Stopmotorcompletelybyreleasingthe blade/motorcontrol
handle.Makesurethatthe unithascometoa completestop.
3. Liftdischargedoorandpullgrassbagupandawayfromthe
mowerto removethebag.Disposeof thegrassclippingsand
reinstallthe bagwhencomplete.
