o Shuttheengineoffandwaituntilthebladecomestoacompletestop
beforeremovingthegrasscatcheroruncloggingthechute.
Thecuttingbladecontinuestorotateforafewsecondsaftertheengine
isshutoff.Neverplaceanypartofthebodyinthebladeareauntilyou
aresurethebladehasstoppedrotating.
o Neveroperatemowerwithoutpropertrailshield,dischargecover,grass
catcher,bladecontrolhandle,orothersafetyprotectivedevicesinplace
andworking.Neveroperatemowerwithdamagedsafetydevices.Failure

SLOPE OPERATION
Slopesarea majorfactorrelatedto slipandfall accidentswhichcan resultin
severeinjury'.Operationon slopesrequiresextracaution.Ifyoufeeluneasyon
a slope,do notmowit.Foryoursafety,usethe slopegaugeincludedas part
of thismanualto measureslopesbeforeoperatingthis unitona slopedor hilly
area.Ifthe slopeis greaterthan 15degrees,do notmowit.
Do:
o Mowacrossthe faceof slopes;neverupanddown.Exerciseextreme
cautionwhenchangingdirectionon slopes.
o Watchfor holes,ruts,rocks,hiddenobjects,or bumpswhichcancause
youto slipor trip.Tall grasscan hideobstacles.
o Alwaysbesureof your footing.A slipandfall can causeseriouspersonal
injury.Ifyou feelyouare losingyourbalance,releasethe bladecontrol
handleimmediately,and thebladewill stop rotatingwithin 3 seconds.
Do Not:
o Donot mowneardrop-offs, ditchesor embankments,whereyou could
loseyour footingor balance.
o Donot mowslopesgreaterthan15degreesas shownonthe
slopegauge.
o Donot mowonwet grass. Unstablefootingcouldcauseslipping.
SERVICE
Safe Handling Of Gasoline:
o Toavoidpersonalinjuryor propertydamageuseextremecarein
handlinggasoline.Gasolineis extremelyflammableandthe vaporsare
explosive.Seriouspersonalinjurycanoccurwhengasoline isspilledon
yourselfor yourclotheswhichcan ignite.
o Washyourskin andchangeclothesimmediately.
o Useonlyanapprovedgasolinecontainer.
o Neverfill containersinsideavehicle or ona truck ortrailerbedwith a
plastic liner.Alwaysplacecontainerson the groundawayfromyour
vehiclebeforefilling.
o Removegas-poweredequipmentfromthetruck ortrailerand refuelit on
theground.If thisis not possible,then refuelsuchequipmentona trailer
witha portablecontainer,ratherthan froma gasolinedispensernozzle.
o Keepthe nozzleincontactwith the rimofthe fueltankor container
openingat alltimesuntilfueling iscomplete.Donot usea nozzle
lock-opendevice.
o Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars, pipesandothersources
of ignition.
o Neverfuel machineindoorsbecauseflammablevaporswillaccumulate
inthe area.
o Neverremovegas capor addfuelwhile engineishotor running.
Allowenginetocool atleast twominutesbefore refueling.
o Neveroverfill fueltank. Filltank to nomorethan _ inchbelowbottom
of filler neckto providefor fuelexpansion.
o Replacegasolinecapand tightensecurely.
o Ifgasolineis spilled,wipeit offthe engineandequipment.Moveunit
to anotherarea.Wait5 minutesbeforestarting engine.

or pilot lightas ona waterheater,spaceheater,furnace,clothesdryer,
or othergasappliances.
o To reducefire hazard,keepmowerfree of grass,leaves,orother
debrisbuild-up.Clean upoilor fuelspillageand removeanyfuel
soakeddebris.
o Allowa mowerto coolat least5 minutesbeforestoring.
