USmNG THE MOWER
IMPORTANT:Alwaysreleasethe drivecontrolbeforechanging

Besure lawnis char ofstones,sticks,wire,orother obiectswhich
coulddamagelawnmowerorengine.Suchobiectscouldbeaccidently
thrownby themowerin anydirectionandcauseseriouspersonaliniury
to theoperatorandothers.Forbestresults,do notcutwetgrassand
nevercut off morethanone=thirdof thetotalbngth of the grass.
1. Oncethe engineis running,slowlysqueezethe drivecontrol
againstthe upperhandleto propelthe unit.Toactivatethe cutting
blades,squeezethe bladecontrolagainsttheupperhandle.
2. Tochangegears,releasethe drivecontrolbver and movethe
gearshiftlevertothe desiredsetting.Whenfirst practicingwith
the mower,puttheleverin No.1 position.Sebct forwardspeeds
accordingto mowingconditionsandterrain.Useslowerspeeds
on roughterrainor whengrassis heavyor thick.The forward
speedcanbe increasedonsmoothterrainorifthe grasscoveris
light.Mow thewheelsto stopcompbtelybeforeshiftingfromone
speedintoanother.
iMPORTANT:Beawarethatwhenengagingthe drivecontrolleverwith
the gearshiftbver in 3rdor 4thgear,the powerandtorquegenerated
maycausethe unitto lurchforward.To avoidthis,slowlysqueezethe
drivecontrolleveragainstthe upperhandb.
3. Tostopthe blades,rebase thebladecontrol.To stopthe drive
controlto thewheels,releasethedrivecontrol.
STOPPING THE MOWER
1. Releasebladeanddrivecontrolto stopwheelsanddeck blades.
2. Movethrottle/chokecontrolleverdownto slow(turtb)
position.Wheneverpossible,graduallyreduceenginespeed
beforestoppingengine.
3. Movethrottle/chokecontrolbver allthe waydownto stop
position.
4. Disconnectsparkplugwirefromsparkplugandgroundagainst
the engine.
MOVmNG THE MOWER WITHOUT
ENGmNE POWER
The mowercan be manuallypushedor pulledby placingthe gearshift
leverintoN (neutral)positionandpressingthedrivecontrolagainstthe
handlebargrip.
MULCHING OR SmDE-DISCHARGE MOWmNG
Youcan usethe mowereitheras a mulchingmoweroras a side=
dischargemower.To usethe mulchingfeature,insertthemulchplug
as describedbelow.Removethemulchplugto side=dischargegrass
clippings.
The mulchplugisdesignedto keepthe dischargechuteraisedup
while mowing.Whenthe plugisremoved,thedischargechutewill
loweritselffor side=dischargemowing.
Beforeinstallingorremovingmulchplug,stopengine,waitfor parts
to stopmoving,anddisconnectsparkplugwire.
To installor removemulchplug:
1. Stoptheengineandwaitfor all partsto stopmoving.
2. Disconnectthespark plugwirefromthe sparkplug.
3. Toinstallthe mulchplug,insertthe right=sidetab(A) of theplug
into thebracketonthe deck, Figure8.
4. Insertthe coverintothe dischargeopening(B), Figure8.
5. Afterthemulchplughas beenplacedintothedeckopening,push
the plugtowardstherearofthe mower(C) tofit the plugproperly
into theopening,Figure8.
6. Toremovethe plug,slidethecoverto the right(frontof mower)to
disengagethe slotfromthemowerdeckandthen prythe left=side
of thecoverout andoff.
