STORAGE
WARNING: Perform the following
steps after each use:
S Allow engine to cool, and secure the unit
before storing or transporting.
S Store unit and fuel in a well ventilated area
where fuel vapors cannot reach sparks or
open flames from water heaters, electr ic
motors or sw itches, furnaces, etc.
S Store unit with all guards in place. Position
unit so that any sharp object cannot acci-
dentally cause injury.
S Store unit and fuel well out of t he reach of
children.
SEASONAL STORAGE
Prepareunit for storage at endof seas on or if
it w ill not be used for 30 days or m ore.
If your unitis to be stored for a per iod of ti m e:
S Clean the entire unit before lengthy stor-
age.
S Store in a clean dry area.
S Lightly oil exter nal metal surfaces.
FUEL SYSTEM
Under FU ELING ENGINE in the OPERA-
TION sectionof this manual,see messagela-
beled IMPORTANT regarding the use of ga -
sohol in your engine.
Fuel st abilize r is an acceptable alternat ive in
minimizing the for mation of fuel gum depos its
during storage. Add stabilizer to gasol ine i n fuel
tank or fuel st orage cont ainer . Follo w the mix
instr uctions fo und on sta bilize r conta iner . Run
engine at leas t 5 minutes after a dding stabi lizer.
HELPFUL TIP
During storage of yourgas/
oil mixture, the oilwill sepa-
rate from the gas.
We recommend that you
shake the gas can weekly
to insu reproper blendingof
the gas and oil.
ENGINE
S Remove spark plug andpour 1 teaspoon of
40:1, 2- cycleengine oil (air cooled) through
the spark plug opening. Slowly pull the
starter rope 8 to 10 t im es to distribute oil.
S Replac espark plugwith newone of recom-
mended type and heat range.
S Clean air filter.
S Chec k entire unit for loose screws, nuts,
and bolts. Replace any damaged, br oken,
or worn parts.
S At the beginning of the next season , use
only fresh fuel hav ingtheproper gasolineto
oil ratio.
OTHER
S Do not store gasoline from one season t o
another.
S Replac eyourgasoline canif itstarts torust.
