POSSIBLE PROBLEM
Ignition key in STOP position
Choke knob in incorrect position
Engine throttle lever in incorrect starting

Engine not primed enough (when cold)

Spark plug wire disconnected
Fouled or faulty spark plug
Gasoline tank empty
Fuel shutoff valve is closed
Carb / fuel line “varnished” from old gas

SOLUTION
Turn key to RUN “
”
position
Move choke knob to FULL CHOKE position
Move throttle lever to correct
starting position
Push primer button several more times
Rotate choke knob to OFF position, move
throttle lever to idle position, attempt
to start engine, then proceed with normal
starting procedure. DO NOT re-prime!
Connect spark plug wire to spark plug
Remove, clean, inspect, re-gap or replace
spark plug
Fill gasoline tank
Open fuel shutoff valve
Contact dealer
Rotate choke knob to correct setting
Rotate throttle lever to correct
starting position
Open fuel shutoff valve
Push primer button several more times
Drain gasoline from tank, refill tank with
fresh gasoline
Remove, clean, inspect, re-gap or replace
spark plug
Remove, clean, inspect, re-gap or replace
spark plug
After the engine starts, gradually rotate the
choke knob to the NO CHOKE position
Remove all debris from air screen
Check oil, add as necessary
Clean cooling fins
Disconnect spark plug wire, re-tighten plug
Increase tension on spring
Replace auger shear bolts
Replace spring (continued)
TROUBLE
Engine won’t start
Engine difficult to start
Engine idles rough
Engine overheats
Auger drive lever does not actuate auger
