OPERATING TIPS
S While vacuuming or blowing debris, hold
the unit with the m uffler side facing away
from your body and clothes (see OPERA T-
ING POSITION illustration above).
S To reduce the risk of hearing loss
associated with sound level(s), hearing
protection is required.
S To reduce the risk of injury a ssociated with
contacting rotating par ts, stop t he e ngine b e-
fore i nstalling o r rem oving attachments. Do
not operate without guard(s) in pla ce.
S Operate power equipment only a t reasonable
hours--not early i n the morning or l ate a t night
when people might bedisturbed. Comply with
times l isted in local ordinances. Usual recom-
mendations are 9:00 a .m. to 5:00 p.m.,
Monday though Saturday.
S To re duce nois e levels, limit the number of
pieces of equipment used at any one time.
S To reduce noise levels, operate power
blowers at the lowest possible throttle
speed t o do the job.
S Use rakes and brooms to loosendebris be-
fore blow ing.
S In dusty conditions, slightly dampen sur-
faces or use amister attachment when wa-
ter is available.
S Conserve water by using power blowers
instead of hoses for many lawn and g arden
applications, i ncluding areas such as gutters,
screens, patios, g rills, p orches, and gardens.
S Watchoutfor children,pets, openwindows,
or freshly washed cars. Blow debr is away
safely.
S Use the full blower nozzle extension s othe
air s tream can work close t o the gr ound .
S After using blowers and other equipment,
CLEAN UP! Dispose o f debris in trash re-
ceptacles.

FUELING ENGINE
WARNING: R em ove fuel cap slowly
when r efueling.
HELPFUL TIP
To obtainthe correct oil mix
ratio, pour 3.2 ounces of
2--cycle synthetic oil into
one gallon of fresh gas.
This engine is certified to operate on
unleaded gasoline. Before operation,
gasoline must be mixed w ith a good quality
synthetic 2-cycle air-cooled engine oil
designedtobemixed ataratioof40:1.Poulan
PROR brand synthetic oil is recommended.
Mix gasoline and oil at a ratio of 40:1. A 40:1
ratio is obtained by mixing 3.2 ounces (95 ml)
of oil with 1 gallon (4 l iter s ) of unleaded
gasoline. DO N OT USE automotive oil or
boatoil. T heseoils willcause enginedam age.
When mixing fuel, follow instructions printed
on container. Once oil is added to gasoline,
shake container momentarily to assure that
the f uelis thoroughly mixed. Always readand
follow the safety rules relating to fuel before
fueling yo ur unit.
IMPORTANT
Experience indicates that alcohol blended
fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or
methanol) canattract moisturewhich leadsto
separation and formation of acids during
storage. Acidic gas can damage the fuel
systemofan enginewhileinstorage. Toavoid
engine problems, empty the fuel system
before storagefor 3 0days o rlonger. Drainthe
gastank,starttheengine andletitrununtilthe
fuel linesandcarburetor are empty .Usefresh
fuel next season. Never use engine or
carburetor cleanerproducts inthe fuel tankor
permanent damage may occur.
NOTE: Unit must be placed on its side w hen
adding fuel (see illustration below).
TO STOP THE ENGINE
D To stop the engine, move the t hrottle lever
to the ST OP position.
BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE
WARNING: You MUST m ake sure
the tubes ar e secure bef ore using the unit.
D Fuel engine. Move at least 10 f eet (3 me-
ters) away f rom the fueling site.
