CONFIGURINGYOUR UNIT
Y ou can configure your unit using a trimmer
hea d for grass and light weeds, or a weedblade
for cutting grass, wee ds, and b rush up to 1/2
in ch (1 cm) in dia m ete r. To assemble you r unit,
go to the section fo r the de sired configuration
and follow the instructions.

NOTE:
Re m ovethebla deandm etalshieldbe-
fore attaching the plastic shield and trimmer
he ad. To rem ove bla de, align hole in the dust
cup with thehole in the side of the gearboxby
rotating the blade. Insert a small screwdriver
into aligned holes. Thi s will keeptheshaftfrom
tur ning while loosening the blad e n ut . Remove
blade nut by turning clockwise. Remove the
screwdriver . Remove both wa shers an d blade.
To remove metal shield, loosen and remove the
fou r mou ntin g screws. See ATT A CHING THE

INSTALLATION OF THE TRIMMER
HEAD
NOTE:
Before installing the trimmer head,
make sure the dust cup and retaining washer
are positioned on the shaft of the gearbox.
The retaining washer must be positionedwith
the raised section toward the gearbox.
1. Alignh ol einth edu stcu pwiththeholeint he
sideof thegearbox by rotatingthedustcup.
2. Insert a small screwdriver into aligned
holes. This will keep the shaft from turn-
ing while tightening trimmer head.

3. While holding the screw dr iv er in po sit ion ,
thread trimmer head onto the shaft by turn-
ing counterclockwise. T ighten until secure.

4. Remove the screwdriver.
ATTACHING THE PLASTIC SHIELD
W ARNING:
The shield must be prop-
erly installed. The shield provides partial
protection from the risk of thrown objects to
theoperatorandothersandis equippedwitha
line limiter bladewhich cuts excess line tothe
properlength.Theline limiter blade(onunder-
side of shield) is sharp and can cut you.
1. Remove wing nut from shield.
2. Insert bracket into slot on shield.
3. Pivotshield until boltpassesthroughhole
in bracket.
4. Tighten the wing nut securely .
