OPERATING TIPS
S
While vacuuming or blowing debris, hold
the unit with the muffler side facing away
from your bodyand clothes (seeOPERAT-
ING POSITION illustration above).

To reduce the risk of hear ing loss
associated with sound level(s), hearing
protection is required.
S
To redu ce the risk of injury associated with
contacting rotating parts, stop the eng ine be-
fore inst alling or rem oving at tachm ents. Do
not op erate w ithout gu ard(s) in place.

Operate power equipment only a t re asonable
hours--not early in the morning or late at night
when pe ople might be d isturbed. Co mply with
times listed in local ordinances. Usual rec om-
mendations are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,
Monday tho ugh Satu rday .

To reduce noise levels, limit the number of
pieces of equipment used at any one time.

To reduce noise levels, operate power
blowers at the lowest possible throttle
speed to do the job.

safely.

Use the full blower nozzle extension so the
air stream can w ork close to the ground.

After using blowers and other equipment,
CLEAN UP! Dispose of debris in trash re-
ceptacles.

information in the safety rules before you be-
gin. Ifyoudo not understandthe safety rules,
do not attempt to fuel your unit. Call

FUELING ENGINE
W ARNING:
Remove fuel cap slowly
when refueling.
This engine is certified to operate on
unleaded gasoline. Before operation,
gasoline must be mixed with a good quality
synthetic 2-cycle air-cooled engine oil
designedtobemixed a taratioof40:1.Poulan
PRO
!
brand synthetic oil is recommended.
Mix gas oline and oil at a ratio of 40:1. A 40:1
ratio is obtained by mixing 3.2ounces (9 5ml)
of oil with 1 gallon (4 lite rs) of unleaded
gasoline. DO NOT USE automotive oil or
boatoil. Theseoils willcauseenginedamage.
When mixing fuel, f ollow instructions printed
on container. Once oil is added to gasoline,
shake container momentarily to assure that
thefuel is thoroughlymixed. Always readand
follow the safety rules relating to fuel before
fueling your unit.
IMPORTANT
Experience indicates that alcohol blended
fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or
methanol)canattractmoisturewhichleadsto
separation and formation of acids during
storage. Acidic gas can damage the fuel
system ofanenginewhile instorage.Toavoid
engine problems, empty the fuel system
beforestoragefor30daysorlonger.Drainthe
gastank,starttheengineandlet itrununtilthe
fuellines andcarburetorareempty.Usefresh
fuel next season. Never use engine or
carburetorcleaner productsinthefuel tankor
permanent damage may occur.
NOTE:
Unit must be placed on its side whe n
a dd ing fu el (see illustratio n below).
TO STOP THE ENGINE

To stop the engine, move the throttle lever
to the STOP pos ition.
BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE

the tubes are secure before using the unit.

Fuel engi ne. Move at least 10 feet (3 me-
ters) away from the fueling site.

Hold the unit in the starting position as
shown. Make sure the blower end is di-
rected away from people, ani mals, g lass,
and solid objects.
