known as CRU.

Compact unit that contains one or two controllers,
power supplies, and fans. Note: The E2400 command
module also contains disk drives. Also known as
controller module or controller tray.

Compact unit that contains disk drives, power supplies,
one or two ESMs, and fans. Also known as drive tray or
expansion drive module.

ESM
Environmental Services Monitor. Interface board that
provides interface connections between the drive
modules and the SCSI bus, and environmental
information about the drive module to the host. Also
known as ESM CRU, ECC, or environmental card.
ESM canister
GBIC
Gigabit interface converter. A device used in Fibre
Channel networks to convert copper fibre signals to
fiber optic and vice versa.
