Cleaning the cylinder space
Remove the sprocket guard (see ”PUTTING INTO OPERATI-
ON” Fig. B).
If necessary remove mufer by loosening and removing the
three screws (19).
Stuff a rag into the cylinder port (20).
Use a suitable tool (wooden scraper) to clean out the cylinder
space (21), especially the cooling ns.
Remove the rag from the cylinder port and ret the mufer
according to the diagram.
Replace the gasket (18) and cowling (17) if necessary. Carefully
remove any pieces of the old gasket from the mufer.
Ensure correct mounting position. The cowling should follow
the contour of the cylinder to ensure correct heat transfer.
Tighten screws (19) to 10 Nm while the engine is cold.s

Replacing the return spring unit
Remove and reinstall the fan housing and cable drum (see
”Replacing the starter cable”).
Carefully remove the return spring unit (9) from the fan
housing.
CAUTION:
Danger of injury! If the spring is broken it can jump out!
Carefully t the new return spring unit.

Cleaning the mufer
Replacing/cleaning the spark arrester screen
CAUTION: If the engine is hot there is a risk of burning.
Wear protective gloves.
Remove the sprocket guard (see ”PUTTING INTO OPERATI-
ON” Fig. B).
Remove deposits of carbon from the exhaust outlets (13) of
the mufer.
The spark arrester screen (14) should be checked and cleaned
regulary.
Loosen the screws (16) and remove the deector plate (15) and
the spark arrester screen (14).
Caution: Do not use sharp or pointed objects for screen cleaning.
Damaged or misformed screen wires may result.
Reassembly the spark arrester screen with the deector plate
and tighten the screws.
