Replacing the Engine Oil Filter
When draining away the engine oil that is still
hot, stay clear of the hot engine oil and other
components to avoid burn.
1. Completely drain the engine oil.
Refer to “Changing the Engine Oil”.
(A) Drain plug
2. Wipe away dirt and dust from around the engine
oil filter.
(B) Engine oil filter
Prevent dirt and debris from contaminating engine
oil. Carefully clean the engine oil filter and the
surrounding area before you remove the engine oil
filter.
3. Turn the filter counterclockwise to remove it.
4. Apply a small amount of clean engine oil onto the
gasket of the new filter.
5. Install a new replacement oil filter by turning it
clockwise until the gasket is seated against the
filter base. Then turn the filter an additional one
half turn.
6. Reinstall the drain plug. Do not over-tighten it.
7. Remove the oil fill cap.
8. Add approximately 2.5 US qt (2.4 L) of the engine
oil.
9. Reinstall the oil fill cap.
10.Start and idle the engine to check for any leaks.
11.Stop the engine. Correct any leakage before
operating the tractor.
12.Check the engine oil level and add more as
necessary.
13.Lower and close the hood.
