. Thoroughlyinspecttheareawherethesnowthrowerwill beusedandremove
all doormats,sleds,boards,wires,andotherforeignobjects.
. Do notoperatethesnowthrowerwithoutwearingadequatewinterclothing.
. Wearfootwearthatwill improvefootingonslipperysurfaces.
. Usecautiontoavoidslippingorfallingespeciallywhenoperatingthe
snowthrowerin reverse.
*, Neveroperatethesnowthrowerwithoutgoodvisibilityorlight.Alwaysbe
sureofyourfooting,andkeepafirmholdonthehandles.
. Do notclearsnowacrossthefaceofslopes.Useextremecautionwhen

surfaces.Lookbehindthesnowthrowerandusecarewhenoperatingin
reverse.
* Do notusethesnowthroweronsurfacesabovegroundlevelsuchas roofsof
residences,garages,porches,orothersuchstructuresor buildings.
. Operatorsshouldevaluatetheirabilityto operatethesnowthrowersafely
enoughtoprotectthemselvesandothersfrominjury.
. Thesnowthroweris intendedtoremovesnowonly.Do notusethesnow
throwerforanyotherpurpose.
. Do notcarrypassengers.
*, Afterstrikingaforeignobject,shutOFFtheengine,disconnectthecordon
electricmotors,thoroughlyinspectthesnowthrowerforanydamage,and
repairthedamagebeforerestartingandoperatingthesnowthrower.
*, Ifthesnowthrowervibratesabnormally,shutOFFtheengine.Vibrationis
generallyawarningoftrouble.Seeanauthorizeddealerif necessaryfor
repairs.
. Formodelsequippedwithelectricstartingmotors,disconnectthepower
cordaftertheenginestarts.
FuelHandling
DANGER
Fuelanditsvaporsareextremelyflammableandexplosive,
Alwayshandlefuelwithextremecare.
Failuretoobservethesesafetyinstructionscancauseafire
Iorexplosionwhichwill resultin severeburnsordeath.
WHENADDINGFUEL
* Turnoffengineandletcoolatleast2 minutesbeforeremovingthefuel
capandaddingfuel.
o Fill fueltankoutdoorsor inawellventilatedarea.
o Donotoverfillthefueltank.Toallowfor theexpansionofgasoline,do notfill
abovethebottomofthefueltankneck.
o Keepfuelawayfromsparks,openflames,pilotlights,heat,andother
ignitionsources.
o Checkfuellines,cap,andfittingsfrequentlyfor cracksor leaks.Replaceif
necessary.
o Useanapprovedfuelcontainer.
o Iffuelspills,wait untilit evaporatesbeforestartingengine.
WHENSTARTINGENGINE
*, Ensurethatsparkplug,muffler,fuelcap,andair cleaner(if equipped)arein
placeandsecured.
. Donotcranktheenginewiththesparkplug removed.
. Iffuelisspilled,do notattempttostarttheengine,butmovethesnow
throwerawayfromtheareaofthespill, andavoidcreatinganysourceof
ignition,untilthefuelvaporshavedissipated.
*, Donotover-primetheengine.Followtheenginestartinginstructionsinthis
manual.
. Iftheenginefloods,setchoke(if equipped)to OPEN/RUNposition,move
throttle(ifequipped)to FASTpositionandcrankuntilenginestarts.
WHENOPERATINGEQUIPMENT
* Donottipthesnowthroweratananglewhichcausesthefueltospill.
. Donotchokethecarburetorto stoptheengine.
. Neverruntheenginewiththeaircleanerassembly(ifequipped)or theair
filter (ifequipped)removed.
WHENCHANGINGOIL
* Ifyoudraintheoilfromthetopoil fill tube,thefueltankmustbeemptyor
fuelcanleakoutandresultin afire orexplosion.
IWHENTRANSPORTINGEQUIPMENT
* TransportwithfueltankEMPTY,orwithfuelshut-offvalveOFE
WHENSTORINGGASOLINEOREQUIPMENTWITHFUELIN TANK
*, Storeawayfromfurnaces,stoves,waterheaters,or otherappliancesthathave
pilotlightor otherignitionsourcebecausetheycanignitefuelvapors.
