If adjustment is necessary:
Loosen bolts in speed selector lever (see
figure below).

TO REPLACE FRICTION WHEEL
If the snoW thrower will not move forward,
and the friction wheel is worn or damaged,
you need to replace it as follows: (First allow
the engine to cool).
Drain the gasoline from the fuel tank.
Drain the fuel in a container and reinstall
the fuel line.
Disconnect the spark plug wire.
Stand the snow thrower up on the auger
housing end (see figure below).

Remove the bottom panel (see second
figure on page 19).
Remove the three (3) fasteners securing
the friction wheel to the hub (see second
figure above).
Remove the four bolts securing the bear-
ing plates (both sides), (see second fig-
ure above).
Remove right side bearing plate. Leave
hex shaft in original position.
Remo,_e friction wheel from hub. Slip fric-
tion wheel off hex shaft towards right side.

TO REPLACE AUGER SHEAR BOLT
The augers are secured to the auger shaft
with special bolts (see figure below) that are
designed to break (to protect the machine) if
an object becomes lodged in the auger
housing. Use of a harder bolt will destroy the
protection provided by the shear bolt.

IMPORTANT: To ensure safety and perfor-
manse levels, only original equipment shear
bolts shouldbe used. When replacing shear
bolts,be sure to replace shear bolt spacers.
To replace a broken shear bolt, proceed as
follows:
Move the throttle to O (STOP) and turn
off all controls.
Disconne_ the spark plug wire. Be sure
all moving parts have stopped.
Align the hole in the auger tube with the
hole in the auger shaft. Install the new
shear pin and shear bolt spacer found in
toolbox on top of belt cover.
NOTE: Spacer fits inside the larger hole in
the auger tube.
Reconnect the spark plug wire.
