Blade Care
Periodically inspectthe blade adapter for cracks,
especially if you strikea foreign object. Replace when
necessary.
WARNING: When inspectingthe cutting
_lk lade, protect hands by using heavy
gloves or a rag to grasp the cutting
blade.
Disconnectspark plugwire from spark plug.
Turn mower on its side making sure that the air
filter and the carburetorare upto check the
blade. If theblade needs to be serviced, refer
tothe instructionson blade care inthe "Service
& Adjustments"section ofthis manual.
Lubrication
Wheels
Lubricatethe wheels at least once a season
withlightoilor engine oil.Also, ifthe wheels are
removed for any reason, lubricatethe surface
ofthe axle bolt and the inner surfaceof the
wheel with lightoil.
Blade Control Handle
Lubricatethe pivot pointson the blade control
handle and the brake cable at least once a
season with lightoil. The blade controlhandle
mustoperate freely in both directions.For
complete lubricationchart, see Figure 15.
Chute Deflector
Lubricatethe torsion springand thepivot point
on each end of the chute deflector usinga light
oil.This willprevent rustingand ensure thatthe
deflector,which is a safety device, can always
work properly.
