TURNING THE TILLER
1. Practiceturningthetillerina level,openarea.Beverycarefulto
keepyourfeetandlegsawayfromthe tines.
2. Tobegina turn,lift thehandlebarsuntilthetinesareoutof the
groundandtheengineandtinesare balancedoverthewheels.
3. Withthe tillerbalanced,pushsidewayson thehandlebartosteer
inthedirectionof theturn.Afterturning,slowlylowerthetines into
Becertainsparkplugwireisdisconnectedandgroundedagainstthe
enginewhenperforminganyadjustments.

SETTING THE DEPTH
Tillingdepthiscontrolledby thedepthstakewhichcanbeadjustedto
fivedifferentsettings.Adjusttheside shieldsasyouadjustthedepth
stake.
• Whenusingthetillerforthefirsttime,usethesecondadjustment
holefromthetop (1"oftillingdepth).
• Whenbreakingupsod andforshallowcultivation,usethesetting
whichgives1"of tillingdepth (secondholefromthetop).Place
thesideshieldsintheirlowestposition.
• Forfurtherdepth,raisethedepthstakeandsideshieldsandalso
makeoneor twomorepassesoverthe area.
• Whentillingloosesoil,thedepthstakemaybe raisedto its
highestposition(usebottomadjustmenthole)togivethe deepest
tillingdepth.Raisethe sideshieldsto theirhighestposition.
• Totransporttiller,lowerthedepthstake(usetopadjustment
hole).
Toadjustthedepthstake,pullbackonthe depthadjustmentbracket
(A)andpushupordown (B)untilthe bracketreachesthe desired
position,thenreleasethebracket(C). SeeFigure9.
