Adjusting the Differential Lock In/Out Cable
BEFORE PERFORMING ANY MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, STOP THE ENGINE AND DISCONNECT THE
SPARK PLUG WIRE(S).
NOTE: If the Differential will not Lock In or Out, the cable may need adjustment.
Tool Needed:
1/2" open end wrench
1. Locate the Differential Lock In/Out Cable Adjuster (Figure 26).
2. With the Lock In/Out Lever in the Out position (lever back), there should be a slight amount of
slack in the cable exposed at the spring end (Figure 26) and the Lock In/Out Sleeve should be all
the way to the right (toward the outside).
NOTE: If the cable appears to have plenty of travel and sleeve is still not fully to the outside, the sleeve may
have to be cleaned and lubricated. See page 26 for Lubrication.
3. Loosen the nut on the front side of the Adjuster Bracket (spring end) by 1/8" to 1/4" (Figure 26).
4. Tighten the nut on the back (cable sheath end) of the Adjuster up against the Bracket. Check the
position the Lock In/Out Sleeve to be all the way out and repeat the adjustment as needed.
5. With the Differential Lock In/Out Lever in the Lock/In position (forward and locked in place), the
Lock In/Out Sleeve should be all the way in toward the differential (In position is opposite to the
position shown in Figure 26).
