1. Determineapproximatesquarefootageofareatobe
covered and estimate amount of material required.
2. Makesuretheowplateisclosed.
3. Fillthehopper,breakingupanylumpyfertilizer.
4. Settheowcontroldialwiththeowplateclosed.
Refertotheinstructionsonthefertilizerbagandto
theapplicationchartonthispagetoselecttheproper
owratesetting.Theapplicationchartiscalculated
forlighttoheavyapplicationataspeedof3mph,or
100ft.in23seconds.Avariationinspeedwillrequire
anadjustmentoftheowratetomaintainthesame
coverage.Thefasteryouwalk,thewiderthebroadcast
width.
5. Alwaysstartthespreaderinmotionbeforepullingback
thebailtoopentheowplate.
6. Alwaysreleasethebailtoclosetheowplatebefore
turningaroundorstoppingthespreader.
7. Iffertilizerisaccidentallydepositedtooheavilyina
smallarea,soaktheareathoroughlywithagarden
hoseorsprinklertopreventburningofthelawn.
8. Toinsureuniformcoverage,makeeachpasssothat
thebroadcastpatternslightlyoverlapsthepattern
fromthepreviouspassasshowningure12.The

9. Whenbroadcastingweedcontrolfertilizers,make
surethebroadcastpatterndoesnothitevergreen
