FUELING ENGINE
WARNING: Remove fuel ca p slowly
when refueling.
HELPFUL TIP
To obtainthe correct oilmix
ratio, pour 3.2 ounces of
2--cycle synthetic oil into
one gallon of fresh gas.
This engine is ce rtified to operate on unleaded
gasoli ne. Before operation, gasoline must be
mixed with a good quality synthet ic 2-cycle
air-cooled eng ine oil designed to b e mixed at a
ratio of 40:1. Poulan/WEED EATER brand
synthetic oil is recommended. Mix gasoline and
oilat aratio of40:1. A 40:1ratio is obtainedby
mixing 3.2 fluid ounces (95 ml) of oil wit h 1
gallon (4li ter s) ofunleaded gasoline. DO NO T
USE automotive oil or mari ne oil. These oils will
causeenginedamage. When mixing fuel, follow
instr uct ions printed on container . Once oil is
added togasolin e, shake container momentarily
to assure that the fuel is th oroughly mixe d.
Always read and follow the safe ty rules rel ating
to fuel before fueling your unit.
CAUTION : N ever use st rai ght gasoline in
your unit. This will cause permanent engine
damage and void the limited warranty.
FUEL REQUIREMENTS
This engine requires the use of minimum 87
octane [R+M]/2 clean gasoline.
IMPORTANT
Use of alcohol blended fuels (called gasohol or
using ethanol or methanol) can cause major en-
gine performance and durabilit y problems.
WARNING: Alte rnativefuels (not gas-
oline) such as E--15 (15% alco hol), E--20 (20%
alcoho l), E--85(85%alcohol) are NOT classi fied
as ga soline and are NOT approved for use in
2--stroke gasol ine engines. Use of alternative
fuels will cause pro blems such as: improper
clutch engagements, overheating, vapor lock,
power loss, lubrication deficiency , deteriorat ion
of fuel li nes, gaskets and internal ca rburetor
components, etc. Alter native fuel s cause high
moistu re abso rption into the fuel/o il m ixt ure
leadin g to oil and fuel separat ion.
