STEP 4: INSTALL FORWARD
CLUTCH CABLE
1. Carefullyunwrapthe forward clutch ca-
ble(cable without an attached knob) from
its shipping position and slide thethin ca-
blewire (T,Fig. 2-4) into the slot in the ca-
blebracket. Pushthe cableconnector (U,
Fig.2-4) upthrough the holein thebracket
untilthe groove in the connector snaps
into place.
2. Threadthe#10-24 hex nut (Z, Fig. 2-5)
halfway ontothe screw (V) which runs
through the spring (W, Fig.2-5).
3. Threadthe screw (V) into the cablead-
juster (X).

drive pin (M) through the wheelshaft only
(not through the wheelhub). Securethe
wheeldrive pin with the hairpin cotter (L),
pushingthe hairpincotter in asfarasit will
go. Thewheelshould now spin freely
(freewheel) on the wheelshaft. Repeat
with the other wheel.
4. Usethe handlebarto roll the tiller to a
flat area.
IMPORTANT: Beforestartingthe engine,
the wheels must beplacedin theWHEEL
DRIVEposition (pinsthrough wheelhubs
andwheel shaft). This procedureis
describedin WheelDrivePinsin Section3.
