1. CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT
DO NOT MAKE UNNECESSARYADJUSTMENTS FAC-
TORY SETTINGS ARE SATISFACTORY FOR MOST
APPLICATIONS AND CONDITIONS. tF ADJUSTMENTS
ARE NEEDED, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:
a, Make sure Air Cleaner is clean (see page 15),
b,, With engine not running, place Throttle at "FAST"

C. Check that hole in Throttle Lever and hole in Plate line
up (Fig. 31 - Inset), If holes are not aligned, loosen
Clamp Screw and move Throttle Cable until holes are
aligned, Tighten Clamp Screw,
d. Turn High Speed Adjusting Needle clockwise (_), clos-
ing finger tight ONLY, and then turn counterclockwise
(t_) t-1/2 turns (Fig. 31)_
e, Turn Idle Adjusting Needle clockwise (('_) closing finger
tight ONLY, and then turn counterclockwise (_) I turn.

f, Start Engine and allow to warm for five minutes,
g, Make final adjustments with Engine running, Gear Shift
Lever in "NEUTRAL" position and Parking Brake en-
gaged,
-- With Throttle Control Lever in "FAST" position,
turn High Speed Adjusting Needle counterclockwise
(f_) until engine runs rough" then turn clockwise
(F-_) until engine begins to miss, Turn Needle to a
point midway between these positions,
-- With Throttle Control Lever in "SLOW" position,
hold Throttle Lever so that Idle Speed Adjusting
Screw is against Carburetor, turn Idle Adjusting
Needle counterclockwise (f-_) until engine runs
'_rough" and then turn clockwise (f"_) until engine
begins to die. Turn Idle Needle to a point midway
between these positions.,
NOTE: If enqine hesitates when moving Throttle Control

Lever from SLOW to RUN position, turn Idle Speed
Adjusting Screw counterclockwise (t'-_) one-eighth turn.,

b, PUll Fuel Filter out of fuel lines,
c. Install new Fuel Filter with arrow pointing toward
engine,
do Ii]stal! new Fuel Line Clamps supplied with Fuel Filter°
BE SURE THERE ARE NO FUEL LINE
LEAKS AND THAT FUEL LINE IS IN
PROPER POSITION IN HOSE CLAMPS
