Test System Operation (Simulate a Power Outage)
Partial disassembly and special tools are required to
accurately measure voltage output and frequency. For this
reason we recommend you have an authorized Service Dealer
test the system operation.
1. Set the generator’s system switch to OFF.
2. Remove the 15 Amp fuse in control panel.
3. Remove four screws that hold circuit breaker cover to air
intake guard.
4. Connect an accurate voltage and frequency meter to line
side of generator’s main circuit breaker.
5. Set generator’s main circuit breaker to ON (closed)
position.
6. Install 15 Amp fuse in control panel.
7. Set generator’s system switch to AUTO.
8. Turn utility power OFF. Once the 10 second timer has
expired, the engine will crank and start.
9. The transfer switch will transfer to Generator power.
10. Apply various loads to the generator and observe its
performance.
11. Exercise the generator under varying loads for 30
minutes. Monitor the output voltage and frequency
of the generator to verify it’s performance is within
specifications.
12. Turn utility power ON.
13. When the load is transferred back to the utility power
source, the engine cool-down timer starts timing.
14. The generator will run for about one minute to cool
down, then the generator will stop.
NOTE: Minimum engine run time is 5 minutes. If transfer back
to utility occurs before 5 minutes the generator will still run
for 5 minutes.
