Never use waste oil for bar and chain
lubrication.

Always stop the engine before removing
the oil cap.
IMPORTANT
Experience indicates that alcohol blended
fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or
methanol) can attract moisture which leads to
separation and formation of acids during stor-
age. Acidic gas can damage the fuel system
of anengine while in storage. To av oidengine
problems, empty the fuel system before stor-
age for 30 days or longer. Drain the gas tank,
start the engine and let it run unt il t he fuel lines
and carburetor are empty. Usefresh fuel next
season. Never use engine or carburetor
cleaner products inthe fueltank orpermanent
damage may occur.

To stop the engine, move the ON/OFF
switch to the OFF position.

If engine does not stop, move choke lever
to the FULL CHOKE position.

HOW TO START YOUR UNIT
WARNING:
Make sure the chain will
not make contact with any object while start-
ing the engine. Never try t ostart the uni twhen
the guide bar is in a cut. Avoid any contact
with the muffler. A hot muffler can cause seri-
ous burns.

1. Set unit on a flat surface.
2. MoveON/OFF switch to the ONposition.
3. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
4. Move choke lever to FULL CHOKE by
aligning lever with position shown on de-
cal (see illustration below).

5. Squeeze the throttle tr igger fully and hold
through
all remaining steps.
6. Pull starter rope handle sharply until en-
gine sounds as ifit is trying to start, but do
not pull rope more than 6 times.
7. As soon asengine sounds as if it is trying
to start, move choke lever to HALF
CHOKE by aligning lever with position
shown on decal (see illustration below).

8. Pull starter rope shar ply until engine r uns,
but no more than 6 pulls. If the engine
doesn’t start after 6 pulls (at the HALF
CH OKE position), move the choke lever to
the FULL C H OKE position and press the
primer bulb 6 times. Squeeze and hold the
throttle trigger and pull the st arter rope 2
more times. Mov e the ch o k e le v e r to the
HALF CHOKE position and pull the starter
rope unt il t heengine runs,but no m or ethan
6 pulls. If the engine doesn’t start, repeat
procedure 2 additional times.
NOTE:
If engine still doesn’t s tart, it is
probably f looded. P r oceedto STAR TINGA
FLOODED ENGINE.
9. Oncethe engi nestarts,allowit torun 10se-
conds, then move the choke lever to OFF
CH OKE by aligning lever with position
shown on dec a l (s e e illustration below). Al-
low the unit to run for 30 more seconds at
OFF CH O KE before r eleasing the throttle
trigger.
NOTE:
If engine dies w ith the
choke lever in the O FF CHO KE position,
move t he choke leverto t he H ALF CHOKE
position and pull the rope until engine runs,
but no more than 6 pulls.
