SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
REPLACING TH E LINE
For unit to operate properly, the cutting line
should be replaced whenline becomes worn
tolessthan3inchesinlengthfromtheedgeof
each side of the cutting head.
WARNING: Use only 0.095 inch (2,4
mm) diameter Poulan brand cut length line.
Never use wire, rope, string, etc., which can
break off and become a dangerous missile.
1. Remove and discard worn line before
installing new line.
2. Clean entire surface of cutting head.
3. Insertendsoflineintothetwoguideholes
on front of cutting head.

4. Continue to feed line through the guide
holes until the line is fully extended
through the side exit holes.

5. Pullendsoflineuntillineistight.Correctly
installed line will be the same lengt h on
both ends.
REPLACING TH E CUTTING HEAD
1. Alignhole inthedust cup with theholein
the side of the gearbox by rotating the
dust cup.
2. In se rt a small screwdri ve r into ali g n e d
holes. This will keep the shaft from turning
whileremovingandinstalling trimmer head.

3. Whileholdingthescrewdriverinposition,
remove trimmer head by turning clock-
wise (looking from bottom of unit).
4. Thread replacement trimmer head onto
the shaft by turning counterclockwise.
Tighten until secure.
5. Remove the screwdriver.
CARBURETOR IDLE SPEED
ADJUSTMENT
WARNING: Keepothersaway when
making idlespeedadjustments. T hetrimmer
head will be spinning during this pr ocedure.
Wearyour protectiveequipmentandobserve
all safety precautions.
The carburetor has been carefully set a t the
factory .Adjustmentsmay benecessaryifyou
notice a ny of the following conditions:
S Engine will not idle when the throttle is
released.
Make adjustments with the unitsupportedso
the cutting attachment is off the ground and
will not make contact with any object. Hold
theunitbyhandwhilerunningandmakingad-
justments. Keep all parts of your body away
from the cutting attachment an d m uffler.
To adjust idle speed:
Allowenginetoidle.Adjustspeeduntilengine
runs without stalling (idle speed too slow).
S T urn idle speed screw clockwise to increase
engine speed if engine stalls or dies.
S Turnidle speedscrew counterclockwiseto
decrease engine speed.
