Without operator bending over, the blade or
trimmer head is near and parallel to the
ground and easily contacts material to be
cut.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR
USE WITH TRIMMER HEAD
Bring the engine to cutting speed before enter-
ing the material to be cut.
Donot r unengine at ahigher speed than neces-
sar y. The c u tting line w ill c u t efficie ntly when the
engine is run at l ess than full throttle. At l ow er
speeds, there is less engine noise andvibration.
The cutting line w ill last longer and will be less
likely to “weld” onto the spool.
If the trimmer head does not turn when the en-
gine is in operation, make sure the drive shaft
housing is properly seated in engine shroud.
Always release the throttle trigger and allow
the engine toreturn toidle speedwhen notcut-
ting.
ADVANCING THE TRIMMER LINE
Tr immer line will advance approximately 2 in. ( 5
cm) each time the bottom of the trimm er head is
tapped on the ground w ith the engine r unning at
full throttle.
The most efficient line length is the maximum
length allowed by line limiter.
Always keep the shield in place when the tool
is bei ng operated.
To Advance Line:
S
Operate the engine at full throttle.
S
Hold the trimmer head parallel to andabove
the grassy area.
S
Tap bottom of trimmer head lightly on the
ground one time. Approximately 2 in. (5 cm)
of line will be advanced with each tap. A
blade onthe shield will cutthe line to thecor-
rect length.
Always tapthetrimmer head onagrassyarea.
Tapping on surfaces such as concrete or as-
phalt can cause excessive wear to the trim-
mer head.
Iflineisworndownto2in.(5cm)orless,more
than one tap w ill be r equired to obtain the most
efficient line length.
WARNING:
Useonly .080” (2 mm)di-
ameter line. Other sizes of line will not ad-
vance properly and can cause serious injury.
Do not use o ther materials such as wire,
string, rope, etc. Wire can break off during cut-
ting and become a dangerous missile that can
cause serious injury.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR
USE WITH BRUSHBLADE
S
Blade Thrust is a reaction t hat only occurs
when using a bladed uni t. This r eaction can
cause serious injury such as amputation.
Carefully study this section. It is impor tant that
you understand w hat causes bl ade thrust,
how you can reduce the chance of its occur-
ring, and howyou can remain in control of unit
if blade thrust occurs .
