Muffler Cover
Replace the spark arresting screen every 50
hoursofoperation orifanydamage orbreaks
in the screen are noted.
NOTE: Do not attempt to clean the spark
arresting screen.
1. Remove 3 screws from muffler cover .
Remove muffler cover.
2. Loosen and remove 4 screws f rom the
muffler hood.
3. Remove the m uffler hood and spark arrest-
ing screen.
4. Install new spark arresting screen.
5. Reinstallm ufflerhoodand4screws.T ight-
en screws securely.
6. Reinstall muffler cover and 3 screws.
Tighten securely.
NOTE: If any part of the muffler is cracked,
broken or damage d, we recommend that
the muffler be replaced.
CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENTS
The carburetor has been carefully set at the
factory.Adjustmentsmay benecessary ifyou
notice any of the following conditions:
S Engine will not idle when the throttle is re-
leased.
Idle Speed Adjustment
Allowenginetoidle.Adjustspeeduntilengine
runs without stalling (idle speed too slow).
S Turn idle speed screw clockwise to in-
creaseenginespeedifenginestalls ordies.
S Turn idlespeed screw counterclockwiseto
decrease engine speed.

about performing this procedure, contact an
authorized service dealer.
STORAGE
WARNING: Prepare unit for storage at
end ofseason orif itwill not beused for 30days
or more.
S Allow engine to cool, and secure the unit be-
fore storing or transporting.
S Store unit and fuel i n a well ventilated area
where fuel vapors cannot reach sparks or
open flames from water heaters, electric mo-
tors or switches, furnaces, etc.
S Store unitwithallguards inplace. Positionunit
so that any sharp object cannot accidentally
cause injury.
S Store unitand fuel wellout ofthe reach ofchil-
dren.
EXTERNAL SURFACES
S If your unit is to be stored for aperiod of time,
clean i t t horoug hly b efore storage. Store in a
clean dry area.
S Lightly oil external metal surfaces.
INTERNAL ENGINE
S Remove spark plug and pour 1 t easpoon of
2-cycle eng ine oil (air cooled) t hrough the
spark plug opening. Slowly p ull the starter
rope 8 to 10 times to distribute oil.
S Replace spark plug with new one of recom-
mended type and heat range.
S Clean air filter .
S Check entire unit for loose screws, nuts, and
bolts. Replace any damaged,broken, orworn
parts.
S Start each season using only fresh fuel hav-
ing the proper gasoline to oil ratio.
OTHER
S Do not store gasoline from one season to
another.
S Replace your gasoline can if it starts to rust.
