MAINTENANCE
CAUTION
:
Always be sure that the
tool
is
switched
off
and
the
battery
is
disconnected
from
the
tool
before attempting to perform inspection or maintenance.
Blade maintenance
After use, clean off the blades (both sides)
with
a
stiff brush. Then wipe the blades
with
a
cloth and coat them with light
machine oil.
CAUTION:
Dirt and corrosion cause excessive blade
friction and shorten the operating time per
battery charge.
Storage
Do
not clean the tool, charger and/or battery with benzine, thinner or cleaning chemi-
cals. Cracks and discoloration may be caused.
Do
not store the tool, charger and/or battery in locations where the temperature may
reach or exceed 40°C (104OF).
When storing the tool, use the convenient hole in the bottom of the tool handle to hang
the tool on
a
wall from
a
nail or hook.
*The blade guard (blade cover) can be used
as
an oil reservoir
as
well
as
a
convenient
storage device for the tool while not in use. Secure the blade guard to the wall (out of
the reach of children) using nails or screws. Fill the blade guard with mixed oil (motor
oil
:
kerosene
=
1
:
2)
up to the line marked
v

By storing your hedge trimmer with
the shear blades inserted in the oil-filled blade guard, rust on the shear blades can be
effectively prevented.
To
maintain product SAFETY and RELlABl LITY, repairs, maintenance or adjustment
should be performed by Makita Authorized or Factory Service Centers, always using
Makita replacement parts.
