The master cylinder is located under the passenger seat toward the center of the vehicle (Figure 16). Raise or
remove the seat to check the brake uid level.
When checking the brake uid, also inspect the following:
• The presence of brake uid on the exterior surface of the master cylinder indicates a leak.
• The vent holes in the reservoir cover should be clean and open.
• The reservoir diaphragm should not have holes or other damage.
BRAKE FLUID
Brake uid level should be within 1/4-inch (6 mm) from top of reservoir (Figure 16). Also, brake uid should be clean
with no residue in bottom of reservoir or other evidence of contamination.
CAUTION
• Use only DOT–5 (silicone) brake uid. Use of any other type brake uid is not recommended.
