Fuel Filter Air Cleaner
Gasolineand itsvaporsareextremelyflammableandexplosive.Fire
orexplosioncancausesevereburnsor death.
• Keepgasolineawayfromsparks,openflames,pilotlights,heat,
andotherignitionsources.
• Checkfuel lines,tank,cap,andfittingsfrequentlyforcracksor
leaks.Replaceif necessary.
• Beforereplacingthe fuelfilter,drainthe fueltankas perthe
instructionsbelow.
• Donotdrainfuel whentheengineishot.Allowtheengine
adequatetimeto cool. Drainfuel intoan approvedcontainer
outdoors,awayfromopenflame.
• Drainanylargevolumeof fuelfromthe tankby disconnectingthe
fuel linefromthe in-linefuelfilterneartheengine.
• Removethe fuel linefromthe In-lineside (sidetowardsthe fuel
tank)of thefuelfilter.
• Replacementpartsmustbethe sameand installedin the same
positionas theoriginalparts.
• Iffuelspills,waituntil itevaporatesbeforestartingengine.
• Beforereplacingthe fuelfilter,drainthe fueltank.Otherwisefuel
can leakoutandcausea fireor explosion.
To Drainthe fuel:
1. Locatethefuelfilter,whichisroutedonthe leftsideofthe engine
betweenthe fueltankandthe carburetor,andmaybeattachedto
theenginewitha tie strap.Cutthetiestrap,ifpresent,then pinch
thein-lineclamponthefuelfilterwitha pairof pliers,slidethe
clampupthefuelline.Pullthe fuellinefreefromthefilterandplace
theopenendof thelineintoanapprovedcontainerto drainthefuel.
Tochangethe fuel filter:
1. Useplierstosqueezethe tabsonthe otherclamp(theout-line
sideofthe fuel filter),thenslidetheclampawayfromthe fuelfilter.
Twistandpullthe fuellineoff of the fuelfilter.SeeFigure13.
2. Checkthe fuellinesforcracksor leaks.Replaceifnecessary.
3. Replacethe fuelfilterwithan originalequipmentreplacement
filter.Call1-800-4-MY-HOME®to purchasetheoriginalequip-
mentreplacementfilter.
4. Securethe fuellineswiththe clamps.
Iffilters,or coversare notinstalledcorrectlyseriousinjuryordeath
could resultfrombackfire.Do notattemptto starttheenginewith
themremoved.
Donotuse pressurizedair or solventsto cleantheaircleaner
cartridge.
The airfiltersystemusesa cylindricalcartridge.
1. Removethe fasteners(A)andthe airfiltercover(B). SeeFigure
14.
2. To removethefilter(C),lifttheendof the filterandthen pullthe
filteroff the intake(D).
3. To loosendebris,gentlytapthefilteron a hardsurface.If thefilter
