STARTING THE ENGINE DRiViNG THE TRACTOR
Do notoperatethe tractorifthe interlocksystemismalfunctioning.
Thissystemwasdesignedfor your safetyandprotection.
NOTE: Referto theGasolineand Oilfill-upinstructionsearlierinthis
section.
1. Insertthetractorkeyintotheignitionswitch.
2. PlacethePTO(BladeEngage)leverinthedisengaged(OFF)
position.
3. Engagethetractor'sparkingbrake.
4. Activatethechokecontrolby movingthethrottle/chokeleverall
thewayup intothechokeposition.
5. Turntheignitionkeyclockwiseto theSTARTposition.Afterthe
enginestarts,releasethe key.It will returntothe ON (orNormal
Mowing)position.
DO NOTholdthe keyinthe STARTpositionforlongerthanten
secondsata time.Doingsomaycausedamageto yourengine's
electricstarter.
6. Afterthe enginestarts,deactivatethechokecontroland placethe
throttlecontrolinthe FASTposition.
NOTE: Do NOTleavethechokecontrolonwhileoperatingthetractor.
Doingsowill resultina "rich"fuel mixtureandcausethe engineto run
poorly.
STOPPING THE ENGINE
If youstrikea foreignobject,stopthe engine,disconnectthespark
plugwire(s)andgroundagainstthe engine.Thoroughlyinspectthe
machineforanydamage.Repairthe damagebeforerestartingand
operating
1. Ifthe bladesareengaged,placethePTO(BladeEngage)leverin
thedisengaged(OFF)position.
2. Turntheignitionkeycounterclockwiseto the STOPposition.
3. Removethe keyfromthe ignitionswitchto preventunintended
starting.
Avoidsuddenstarts,excessivespeedand suddenstops.
Donotleavethe seatof the tractorwithoutfirst placingthe PTO
(BladeEngage)leverin the disengaged(OFF)position,depressing
the brakepedalandengagingthe parkingbrake.If leavingthe tractor
unattended,also turntheignitionkeyoff andremovethe key.
Alwayslookdownandbehindbeforeandwhile backingupto avoida
back-overaccident.
1. Depressthe clutch-brakepedalto releasethe parkingbrakeand
then letthe pedalup.
2. Movethethrottleleverintothe FAST(rabbit)position.
3. Placetheshiftleverineitherthe FORWARDor REVERSE
position.
IMPORTANT: Do NOTusetheshiftlevertochangethedirectionof
travelwhenthetractoris in motion.Alwaysusethe clutch-brakepedal
to bringthe tractortoa completestopbeforeshifting.
4. Graduallybeginto applypressureto the drivepedal.Thefurther
downthepedalis pushed,thefasterthe tractorwilltravelinthe
desireddirectionbasedon the positionofthe shift lever.
5. The lawntractoris broughttoa stopby releasingthedrivepedal
andthen depressingthe brakepedal.
WARNING!Beforeleavingthe operator'spositionforany reason,
disengagetheblades,placethe shiftleverin neutral,engagethe
parkingbrake,shutengineoff and removethe key.
WHEN stoppingthetractorforany reasonwhileon a grasssurface,
always:
1. Placetheshift leverinneutral,
2. Engagethe parkingbrake,
3. Shutengineoffand removethe key.Doingso will minimizethe
possibilityof havingyour lawn"browned"byhot exhaustfrom
yourtractor'srunningengine.
