2. Connect the wheel drive cable spring to
the idler arm as shown in Figure 20, and
then connect the wheel drive cable to
the transmission mount. See Figure 17.
3. Connect the idler return spring to the
idler arm.
4. Install the blade adapter and blade on
the crankshaft. Make sure the blade
hardware is tightened to the proper
torque. See To install blade: on page 17.
5. Replace the transmission cover.
6. Connect spark plug wire to the spark
plug.
ENGINE/BLADE CONTROL
ADJUSTMENT
NOTE: The engine/blade control has no user
serviceable adjustments. If the engine/blade
control does not stop the engine or blade
within 3 seconds of releasing the control bail,
take the unit to an authorized Ariens dealer
for repairs.
BATTERY (electric start models)
NOTE: Unit comes equipped with a
maintenance-free battery that requires no
regular maintenance except cleaning the
terminals.
To Remove Battery from Unit
1. Disconnect negative (–) cable first, then
positive (+) cable (Figure 21).
2. Remove battery cover and battery. Save
mounting hardware for reinstallation.
To Replace Battery on Unit
1. Hold battery and battery cover in place
against mower frame.
2. Secure with the hardware removed
above.
3. Connect negative (–) cable first, then
positive (+) cable (Figure 21).
To Charge Battery
NOTE: Engine does not charge the battery.
Battery will require periodic charging to
ensure proper starting.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT attempt to “jump
start” mower.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT start engine while the
charger is connected to wiring harness.
1. Connect battery charger to the wiring
harness. See Figure 22.
2. Plug charger into 110 volt Alternating
Current (A.C.) outlet.
IMPORTANT: Battery charger supplied with
unit is for 110 volt Alternating Current (A.C.)
outlets only.
3. Charge for 24 to 48 hours (battery may
be charged for up to 52 hours without
damaging it).
