OPERATION
6.4 Tractor Mowing Speed
The best mowing speeds are usualy between 1-3 MPH. Conditions will vary with the material being cut and
the terrain, but select a speed producing the desired result and maintain that speed. If too much material falls
on the cutterbar, increase the ground speed slightly. If grass is being torn out, slow down by switching to a
slower gear to allow the knife time to cut clean. If the cutterbar breaks back frequently when cutting heavy
dead grass, brush, or vines, slow down to allow the knife time to cut cleanly.

mowing speed depends on terrain condition and grass type, density, and height of cut.
Normal ground speed range is from 1 to 5 mph. Use slow mowing speeds when operating
on or near steep slopes, ditches, drop-offs, overhead obstructions, power lines, or when debris and foreign
objects are to be avoided.

down the Mower and the Tractor engine and wait until all motion has stopped. Inspect the
Mower to determine the source of the vibration. If any Mower blades are missing or
damaged replace them immediately. Operating the Mower with excessive vibration can
result in component failure and broken objects could be thrown outward. To reduce the
possibility of property damage and personal injury, never allow the Mower to be operated
with excessive vibration.

death. Widen the wheel tread and add wheel weights where necessary.
Refer to the mounting instructions or call Customer Service if you need
assistance with Couterweight Procedure.
(SSM-2)
BEFORE leaving the tractor seat, always engage the brake and/or set
the tractor transmission in parking gear, disengage the PTO, stop the
engine, remove the key, and wait for all moving parts to stop. Place the
tractor shift lever into a low range or parking gear to prevent the tractor from rolling. Never
dismount a Tractor that is moving or while the engine is running. Operate the Tractor
controls from the tractor seat only.
