S Tie cord to c ord retainer and connect to
recessed p lug as shown in t his manual t o
prevent damage to unit and/or e xtension
cordandtoreducethepossibilityofthe
extension cord d isconnecting from the
unit during operat ion.
S Do notattemptto repair unit. Inspectthe
insulation and connectors on the unit
and extension cord before each use. If
there is any damage, do not u se until
damage is repaired by your authorized
service dealer.
S Do not use the unit if the switch does not
turn the unit on and of f p roperly. Have t he
unit repaire d by your authorized service
dealer.
S Avoid a ccidental s tarting. B e sure the
switch is in the
OFF positi on and keep
your h and and f ingers away f rom the
switch while connecting the unit to the
power s ou rce o rwhen c arryinga unitco n-
nected to the power source.
S Avoid any body contact with any
grounded conduct or, such as met al
fences, or p ipes, t o a void the possibility of
electric shock.
S Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI)
protection should be provided on the cir-
cuit or outlet to be used for this unit. Re-
ceptacles are available having built-in
GFCI prot ection and may b e u sed for th is
measure of safety.
S Stop the motor im mediately if you are a p-
proached.
DOUBLE INSULATION
CONSTRUCTION
This unit is double insulated to help pro-
tect against elect r i c shock. Double insula-
tion construction consists of t wo separat e
“l ayers” of elect r i cal insulation instead of
grounding. Tools and appli ances buil twit h
a d ouble insulation system are not in-
tended to be grounded. N o grounding
means is provided on this uni t , norshould
a means of grounding be added to this
unit. As a result, the extension cord used
wit h your unit can be plugged into any
standard 120 volt el ectr i cal outlet. Safety
precauti ons must be observed when op-
erati ng any electri cal tool . The double in-
sulation system only pr ovides added pro-
tection against injury resulting from an
internal electrical insulation failure.

All electrical repai r s to this unit, including
housing, swi t ch,motor, et c.,must bediag-
nosed and repaired by qualifi ed service
personnel. Replacement p ar t s for a
double insulated appl i ance must be iden-
tical to the parts they replace. A double in-
sulated appliance is marked with the
words “ double insulation” or “double insu-
lated” . The symbol
(square withi n a
square) may also be marked on the ap-
pliance. Failure to have the unit repaired
by an author i zed service dealer can
cause the double insulat i on constr uct ion
to becomeineff ect i ve and result i nseri ous
injury.
UNIT/MAINTEN ANCE SAFETY
S Do not set t he unit on any s urface except
a clean, hard area while the unit is run-
ning. Debris su ch as gravel, sand, dust,
grass, etc., could be picked u p by the air
intake and thrown out through the dis-
charge openin g, dam aging t he u nit, p rop-
erty, or causing serious injury to bysta nd-
ers or operato r.
S Do not overreach or use from unstable
surfaces such as ladders, trees, steep
slopes, r oofto ps, etc. Use extra c are
when cleanin g on stairways. Keep firm
footing and balance at all times. Keep
hands out of t ubes.
S Inspect the entire unit b efo re ea ch use for
worn, loose, missing, or damaged parts.
Do not use until the unit is in proper work-
ing order.
S This unit is double insulated. See the
DOUBLE I NS UL ATION C ONS TR UCT ION
section. Have all internal service per-
formed by qu alifie d service repairperson-
nel to avoid creating a hazard or voiding
your warranty.
S Have all maintenance other than t he rec-
ommended procedures described in the
instruction m anual performed b y your au-
thorized service deale r.
S Always see your authorized service deal-
er to re place a damaged impeller . Parts
that are chipped, cracked, broken, or
damaged in any other way can fly apart
and cause serious injury. Replace dam-
aged parts b efore using t he unit.
S Never place any object in the air intake
opening as this could restrict proper air
flow and ca use damage t o the u nit.
S Never douse the unit with water or other
liquids or squirt with a water hose. Clean
the unit using a damp cloth. Wipe o f f with
