S Avoidunintentionalstartingoftheunit.Nev-
er carry unit with your finger on the trigger
switch.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
WARNING: Avoid a dangerous envi-
ronmen t. To reduce the risk o f electrical shock,
do not use on wet hedges or shrubbery. Do not
use in rain, in damp or wet locations, or around
swimmingpools,hottubs,etc. Donotexposeto
snow, rain, or water to avoid the possibility of
electrical shock.
S Only use the charger pr ovided with your
unitwhenchargingthebatterypack. Useof
any other charger could permanently dam-
age the battery pack and the hedge trim-
mer.
S Usecharger withstandard householdelec-
trical o utlets only (120 volt). Do not abuse
the charger or charger cord. Never carry
theunit bythe charger cord oryank cordto
disconnect from r eceptacle. Donot usethe
charger if t he charger or charger cord is
damaged.
S Use the charger indoors only.
S Store and charge this unit in a dry location
and out of the reach of children.
S Avoid dangerous situations. Do notcharge
thebattery pack oruse theunitin anexplo-
sive orcorrosive environment. Avoidareas
where flamm ableliquidsor gasesarepres-
enttoavoidcreatingafireor e xplosionand/
or causing damage to unit.
S Do not attempt to repair unit, battery pack or
charger . Inspect insulation andconnectors on
the unit andcharger before each use. If there
is any damage,donot use untildamage is re-
paired by your authorized service dealer .
S Donotinsertany objectintothemotorarea.
S Battery-powered units do not have to be
plugged into an electrical o utlet to operate;
therefore, they are always in operating condi-
tion. Be aware of possible hazards when you
are not using your battery-powered unit.
S Do not dispose of the battery pack in a fire.
The cell may explode. Check with local code
for proper disposal. Do not open or mutilate
the battery pack. Released electrolyte is cor-
rosive and may cause damageto t he eyes or
skin. It may be toxic if swallowed.
S When handling batteries, take care n ot to
short t he bat tery pack withconductingmateri-
als such as rings, bracelets, and keys. The
battery pack or conductor may overheat and
cause burns.
S Do not use the unit if the switch levers do n ot
turn theuniton andof fproperly.Repairs tothe
switch levers must be made by your autho-
rized service dealer .
S Remove battery pack from unit before ser-
vicing, cleaning or storing.
S Never immerse anypart of theunit orchar-
ger into any liquid.
S Inspect charger cord periodically and if
damaged, have it repaired or replaced by
an authorized service dealer.
S Disconnect charger from receptacle when
not in use to reduce the risk of electric
shock or serious personal injury.
UNIT SAFETY
S Inspect unit before use. Damaged parts
mustberepairedor replacedbyyourautho-
rized service dealer.
S Inspect entire unit, including blade and
handguard, before each use. H ave dam-
agedparts r epairedorreplacedby yourau-
thorized service dealer. Make sure all han-
dles,guards,andfasteners areinplaceand
securely fastened.
S Before using the unit, have your service
dealer replace blades or parts that are
cracked, chipped, broken, or damaged in
any ot her way. Throw away damaged or
bent blades.
S Use only WEED EATER blades and other
replacement parts and a ccessories as re-
commended.
CUTTING SAFETY
WARNING: Inspect area t o be
trimmed before each use. Remove objects
(ro cks, b r o ke n glass, nail s, wire, string , et c.)
which can wrap around or be t hrown by blades
or otherwise cause injury or damage during op-
eration.
S Do not use hedge trimmer without hand-
guard attached.
S Don’t force unit; it will do the job better and
with less likelihood of a risk of injury at the
rate for which it was designed.
S Keep children away. K eepothers including
children, animals, bystanders and helpers
at least 3 0 feet (10 meters) away from the
work area. Stop the unit immediately if you
are approached.
S Always keep unit in front of your body. Hold
handles firmly with both hands.
S Don’t overreach or stand on unstable sup-
port such as ladders, stools, truck beds,
etc. Keep firm foot ing and balance a t all
times.
S Do not raise unit above your shoulders.
S Keep all parts of your body away from the
blades.
S Use unit properly . Use only for jobs ex-
plained in this m anual.
S Useonlyindaylightoringoodartificiallight.
MAINTENANCE SAFETY
WARNING: Remove battery pack
from unit before performing maintenance.
S Maintain unit according to recommended
procedures.
S Have all service and maintenance not ex-
plained inthis manual performed by anau-
thorized service dealer to avoid creating a
hazard.
S Never douse or squirt the unit or charger
with water or any other liquid. Clean unit
and labels with adamp sponge. Keep han-
dles dry, clean, and free from oil and
grease.
S Keep the blades and air vents clean and
free of debris to avoid overheating the mo-
tor. Clean after each use.
