FULL CHOKE position.
HOW TO START YOUR UNIT
W ARNING:
The t rimmer head will
turnwhilestarting theengine. Avoid anycon-
tact with the muffler. A hotmuffler can cause
serious burns.

STARTING A COLD ENGINE (or a
warm engine after running out of
fuel)
Starting Position
1. Setunitonaflatsurface.
2. Slowly press the primer bu lb 6 times.
3 . M ove ch o ke le ver to the FULL CH OKE
position.
4. Squeeze the throttle t rigger fully and hold
through
all remaining steps.

5. Pull sta rter r ope ha ndle sharply until engine
sounds as if it is trying to start, but do not
pullropemorethan6times.
6. As soonas enginesoundsasif itis tryingto
start, move choke lever to HALF CHOKE
position.
7. Pull s tarter rope sharply until e ngine runs,
but no more t han 6 pulls.
NOTE:
If theenginedoesn’tstart after6
pulls (at the HALF CHOKE position),
move the choke lever to the FULL
CHOKE position and press the primer
bulb 6 times. Squeeze and hold the
throttle trigger and pull the starter rope2
more times. Move the chokelever tothe
HALF CHOKEpositionandpull thestart-
erropeuntil theengineruns,butnomore
than 6 pulls. If the engine still doesn’t
start, it is probably flooded. Proceed to
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE.
8. Oncetheenginestarts,allowittorun10se-
cond s, then move th e choke lever to th e
RUN position. Allow the unit to run f or 3 0
moreseco nd s a tRUN b ef o rereleasingth e
throttle t rigger .
NOTE:
If engine dies with the choke le-
ver in the RUN position, move thechoke
lever to the HALF CHOKE position and
pull the rope until engine runs, but no
more than 6 pulls.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
1. Move thechoke lever tothe HALFCHOKE
position.
2. Squeeze and ho ld thethrottle trigger . Kee p
throttle t rigger fully s queezed until the en-
gine runs smoo thly.
3. Pull s tarter rope sharply until e ngine runs,
but no more t han 6 pulls.
4. Allow engine to run 15 seconds, then move
the choke lever to RUN.
NOTE:
If engine hasnot started, pull starter
rope5m orepul ls.Ifengines till doesnotrun,it
is probably flooded.
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE
Flooded e ngines can be started b y placing th e
choke lever in the R UN position; then , pull the
rope to c lear the engine of excess fuel. This
co uld re quire pu lling the starter handle man y
times depending on how badly the unit is
flooded. If the unit still doesn’t start, refer to
TROUBLESHOOTING T ABLE or call
1-800-554 -6723.
