DEALER SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS & CHECKLIST for SNAPPER
EUROPEAN MODEL REAR ENGINE RIDERS
This dealer set-up instruction covers set-up of the SNAPPER Rear Engine Riders. Machines are shipped with
steering components, seat & fuel tank detached. Proceed as follows to assemble and prepare the unit. Carefully
stand Rear Engine Rider on rear bumper. It may be necessary to have help to stand unit up.
Open parts box and hardware bag and identify all
components.
WARNING
Wear heavy leather gloves when handling or
working around cutting blades. Blades are extremely
sharp and can cause severe injury.
MOWING DECK
1. Cutting Blade
A. Check torque of blade mounting bolts. Torque
to:
30 to 40 ft. lbs.
B. Check blade straightness per operators
manual.
STEERING COMPONENTS
1. Steering Shaft
A. Carefully stand machine on rear bumper.
B. Push steering shaft into place. See Figure 1.
C. Remove/discard vinyl cap from steering shaft
end.
D. Tap upper bushing so that it contacts control
panel.
E. Place thrust washer on top of bushing.
F. Install 3/16” x 1” cotter-pin from parts bag into
steering shaft above
thrust washer.
G. Install bushing cover over cotter-pin, thrust
washer and bushing.
H. Slide foam steering shaft cover over steering
shaft. See Figure 2.
2. Steering Wheel Installation
NOTE
: For more space between seat and steering
wheel, the steering wheel can be rotated 180 degrees
from the typical position. The SNAPPER logo in the
center of steering wheel can be snapped out and rotated
also.
A. Slide steering wheel on steering shaft.
Normally, the offset of the steering wheel
should be towards operator’s seat. A 3/4”
diameter sleeve may be included with some
models. Insert sleeve into steering wheel.
Align holes and slide onto steering shaft.
B. Support steering wheel and drive the
1/4” x 1-1/2” roll pin into steering wheel and
steering shaft. See Figure 3.
