WARNING: Alternative fuels (not
gasoline) such as E--1 5 (15% alcohol), E--20
(20% alcohol), E--85 ( 85% alcohol) are NOT
classified as gasoline and are NOT approved
for usein 2--stroke gasoline engines. Use ofal-
ternative fuelswillcause problems such as: im-
proper clutch engagements, overheating, va-
por l ock, pow er l oss, lubrication deficiency,
deterioration o f fuel lines, gaskets and internal
carburetor components, etc. Alternative fuels
cause high moisture absorption into the fuel/oil
mixture leading to oil and fuel separation.
BAR AND CHAIN LUBRICATION
The ba r and chain require continuous lubri-
cation. Lubrication is provided by the auto-
matic oiler system when the oil tank is kept
filled. Lack of oil will quickly ruin the bar and
chain. Too little oil will cause overheating
shownby smoke comingfromthe chainand/
or discoloration ofthe bar.In freezingweath-
er oil will thicken, making itnecessary to thin
bar and chain oil with a small amount (5 to
10%) of #1Diesel Fuel orkerosene. Bar and
chain oil must be free flowing for the oil sys-
temtopumpenough oilfor adequatelubrica-
tion.GenuinePoulanorPoulanPRO barand
chain oilis recommended toprotectyourunit
against excessive wear from heat and fric-
tion. Poulan or Poulan PRO oil resists high
temperature t hinning.
If Poulanor PoulanPRO barand chainoilis
not available, use a good grade SAE 30 oil.
S Never u sewaste oilfor barandchainlubri-
cation.
S Always stop the engine before removing
the oil cap.
