ON/OFF SWITCH
The ON/OFF switch is located on the trigger
handle and is used to stop t he engine. Move the
switch to the OFF position to stop t he eng ine.
PRIMER BULB
The P RIMER BULB rem oves airfrom thecar-
buretor and fuel lines and fills them with fuel.
This allows you to start the engine with fewer
pulls on the starter rope. Activate the primer
bulb by pressing it and allowing it to return to
its original form.
START LEVER
The ST ART LEVER helps to supply fuel to the
engine to aid in starting. Activate the starting
system by m oving th e star t lever to the START
position. DO NOT squeeze the throttle trigger
until the engine has started and runs. After the
engine starts, allow the engine to warm--up
10--15 seconds, then fully squeeze the throttle
trigger to deactivate the starting system.
COUPLER
The COUPLER enables optional attach-
ments to be installed on the unit.
BEFORE STARTING ENGINE
WARNING: Be sure to read the f uel
information in the safety rules before you be-
gin. If you do not understand the safety rules,
do not attempt to fuel your unit. Call

FUELING ENGINE
WARNING: Remove fuel cap slowly
when refueling.
HELPFUL TIP
Toobtain thecorrect oil mix
ratio, pour 3.2 ounces of
2--cycle synthetic oil into
one gallon of fresh gas.
This engine is certified to operate on un-
leaded gasoline. Befo re operation , gas oline
must be mixed with a good quality synthetic
2-cycle air-cooled engine oil designed to be
mixed at a rati o of 40 :1. Poulan/ WEED EA TER
brand synthetic oil is recommended. Mix gaso-
line andoilat a ratio of 40:1.A 40:1ratio is ob -
tainedby mixing3.2ounces (95ml) ofo il with1
gallon(4 liters )of unleaded gas oline. D ONOT
USE automotive oil or marine oil. These oils
will cause engine damage. When mixing f uel,
follow instructions printed oncontainer. Once
oil is added to gasoline, shake container mo -
mentarily to assure that the fuel is thoroughly
mixed. Always read and follow the safety
rules relating to fuel before fueling your unit.
IMPORTANT
Experience indicates that alcohol blended
fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or
methanol) canattract moisture which leads to
separation andformation of acids duringstor-
age. Acidic gas can dam age the fuel system
of anenginewhile in storage. To avoidengine
problems, empty the fuel system before stor-
age for 30 days or longer. Drain the gas tank,
start the engineand letit rununtilthe f uellines
and carburetor are empty. Use fresh fuelnext
season. Never use engine or carburetor
cleaner pr od ucts inthe fueltank orpermanent
damage may occur.

NOTE:
DO NOT squeeze the throttle trigger
until the engine ha s started and runs.
1. Set unit on a flat surface.
2. Move ON/OFF switch to theON position.
3. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
4. Move the start lever to the START posi-
tion.
