PRUNING
WARNING: Limit pruning to limbs
shoulder height or below . Do not cut if
branches are h igher than your shoulder . G et a
professional to do the job.
S Make your first cut
1/3 of t he way through th e
bottom of the limb.
S Next make a 2nd cut all the way through
thelimb. Then cuta thirdovercut leavinga

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
The warranty on this unit does not cover
items that have been subjected to operator
abuse or negligence. To receive full value
from the warranty, the operator must main-
tain unitas instructed inthis manual.V arious
adjustmentswillneed to bemade periodical-
ly to properly maintain your unit.
S Once a year, replace the spark plug, air filter ,
and check guide bar and chain for wear. A
new spark plug and air f ilter assures proper
air-fuel mixture and helps your engine run
better and last longer .
CHECK FOR DAMAGED OR
WORN PARTS
Contact an authorized service dealer for r e-
placement of damaged or w orn parts.
NOTE: It is normal for a small amountof oil
to appear under the saw after engine stops.
Do not confuse this with a leaking oil tank.
S ON/STOP Switch -- En su r e ON/S TOP
switch functions properly by moving the
switch to th e S TOP position. Make sure en-
gine stops; then restart engine andcontinue.
S Fuel Tank -- Do not use saw if fuel tank
shows signs of damage or leaks.
S Oil Tank -- Donot usesaw ifoil tank shows
signs of damage or leaks.

CHECK CHAIN SHARPNESS
A sharp chain makes wood chips. A dull
chain makes a sawdust powder and cuts
slowly. See CHAIN SHAR PEN ING .
CHECK GUIDE BAR
Conditions which require guide bar mainte-
nance:
S Saw cuts to o ne side or at an angle.
S Saw has to be forced through the cut.
S Inadequate supply of oil to bar/chain.
Check the condition of guide bar each time
chain is sharpened. A worn guide bar will
damage the c hain and make cutting difficult.
After each u se, ensure ON/STOP switch is
in the STOP position, thenclean all sawdust
from the guide bar and sprocket hole.
To maintain guide bar:
S MoveON/STOPswitchtoSTOP.
S Loosen and remove bar nuts and clutch
cover. Remove bar and chain from saw.
